No VP Area Academic Affairs Department 02230 - Campus K-12 Programs Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $19.00/hr Close Date 05/28/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>This is a temporary position(s) with the University of Utah First Star Academy for Foster Youth (firststar.utah.edu). The Night Shift Youth Coach will be responsible for monitoring the youth in the dorms at night. We are looking to hire 3-4 people to cover all shifts for the entire 4-week program. Position allows for activities like reading and homework through the night, as long as they do not distract from the primary responsibilities of the position.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Stay awake from 11 pm to 7 am to monitor the common room and hallways of a dorm</p> <p>Collaborate with other staff to ensure the well-being and safety of youth in the dorms</p> <p>Collaborate with other staff whenever interacting with youth</p> <p>Employ non-adversarial approaches to behavior management</p> <p>Be the first point of contact in case of emergencies</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>This is an entry-level position. Training will be provided. Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher; willing to obtain a food handlers permit, TB test, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check, first aid training are required. Demonstrated human relation and effective human relations skills are also required.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <p>Must pass a background check & drug check</p> <p>Must be capable of staying awake from 11 pm to 7 am</p> <p>Interest and/or experience working with youth</p> <p>Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
