<p>Duties</p> <p>Position / Title: Secondary Area Field Manager Bargaining Unit: NON-UNION Department/Location: Food & Nutrition Services Calendar Days: 260 Reports To: Food & Nutrition Services Administrators JD Revision Date: 5/23/23 Supervises: Secondary School Cafeteria Managers</p> <p>Function / Position Summary:</p> <p>To provide assistance in the implementation of School Nutrition Program guidelines and requirements in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Assist Food & Nutrition Services Administrators with facilitating day-to-day operations of secondary schools. Provide leadership and direction to secondary schools. Adhere to School District U-46's mission, vision, and values.</p> <p>Job Duties / Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage and supervise the school food service program in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements. </li><li>Maintain current knowledge and enforce all Federal, State, and Local requirements as it pertains to the Dietary Guidelines for School Nutrition Programs. </li><li>Adhere to policy on USDA professional standards and maintain accurate training records for assigned staff, ensuring full compliance. </li><li>Oversee supervision of secondary schools and managers assigned. </li><li>Cohesively work with Secondary Managers and Registered Dietician on menus, program innovation, and marketing promotions. </li><li>Collaborate with elementary field managers and Food & Nutrition Services office staff. </li><li>Participate in site visits to ensure compliance with USDA, ISBE, and department guidelines. </li><li>Coordinate efforts with Food Safety Coordinator on all HACCP policies and procedures, ensuring that the commissary and elementary schools are in 100% compliance with policies/procedures. </li><li>Support the Food & Nutrition Services Administrators on all SEIU matters, including performance evaluations, grievances, training, interviewing, and adhering to policies set forth in the district's employee handbook and SEIU contract. </li><li>Facilitate marketing and promotional events to increase participation. </li><li>Ability to manage day-to-day operations at multiple sites. </li><li>Provide oversight and daily supervision for summer programming. </li><li>Collaborate with Human Resources for hiring and onboarding of applicants. </li><li>Establish and maintain positive working relationships with building administrators. </li><li>Actively participate in monthly manager or leadership meetings, webinars, and video conferences and provide ongoing professional development for staff. </li><li>Collaborate with secondary school managers on monthly operating reports, inventory management, and financial goals. </li><li>Establish and implement annual secondary school manager goals and performance reviews. Provide coaching and leadership as needed with appropriate documentation and adhering to Union and District guidelines. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality on all sensitive matters. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Food & Nutrition Services Administrators. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required. </li><li>Must possess a valid Certified Professional Food Manager Certification, previously known as a sanitation certificate. Certificate shall be obtained by the start of the second school term of employment. </li><li>Current Illinois Driver's License. </li><li>Earn and/or maintain School Nutrition Association certification level 1 or higher within the first year of employment. </li></ul> <p>Experience / Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of four years' experience in supervisor level position within the Food Service Industry. </li><li>Proficient in Google and other software in common usage. </li><li>Capability to maintain complex records and express ideas and directives effectively, verbally and written. </li><li>Strong ability to provide a high level of customer service to students, staff, parents, and team members. </li><li>Knowledge of school nutrition, food storage methods, inventory methods, department policies, procedures, and regulations. </li><li>Ability to plan and organize work to maintain effective working relations as necessitated by work assignments. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate knowledge in culinary math, food costing, product evaluation, food waste metrics, and yields. </li><li>Ability to set goals and establish process plans for completion. </li><li>Ability to plan and organize work to maintain effective working relations as necessitated by work assignments. </li></ul> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <ul> <li>This is a twelve (12) month full-time position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education. </li><li>Must complete all Food Service and District-mandated GCN tutorials, monthly safety training, and department-sponsored training per USDA requirements by their due dates. </li><li>Attend all meetings and trainings as required </li><li>260 calendar days, 8 hours per day </li><li>The full salary range for this position is $45,257.00- $67,340.00.
