Apply now and join a team that values your development and success!</p> <p>Shifts available for this position could be:</p> <ul> <li>Daylight </li><li>Evening (1:00PM-9:30PM or 1:30PM-10:00PM) </li></ul> <p>Why UPMC Presbyterian?</p> <ul> <li>Career Growth: We offer opportunities for career advancement, continuous training, and ongoing education. </li><li>Collaborative Environment: Join a supportive, team-focused environment. </li><li>Innovative Excellence: Join a top academic medical center dedicated to healthcare innovation, research, and education. </li><li>Impactful Work: Help ensure patients receive timely and safe medications, aiding their health and recovery. </li></ul> <p>Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $5,000 with a 2-year work commitment to UPMC!</p> <ul> <li>$3,000 would be paid at the start of your journey with UPMC, with an additional $2,000 if promoted to Pharmacy Technician within first 6-months. </li></ul> <p>Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Pharmacy Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>General Support: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Provide and receive information (via telephone, person-to-person, or written) to hospital personnel, patients, and visitors. </li><li>Refer all drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists. </li><li>Finalize sales using the cash register and follow proper cash handling policies and procedures. </li><li>Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment. </li><li>Ensure that all medications in all areas are safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations. </li><li>Maintain all pertinent documentation, including eye wash logs, refrigerator logs, perpetual inventory logs, etc. </li><li>Comply with Federal and State laws (such as HIPAA), regulations (such as OSHA), and PBM contracting requirements (such as FWA and CMS). </li><li>Practice appropriate hand hygiene both in the pharmacy and in the units. </li><li>Use computer skills to process and maintain all patient information and records. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Distribution: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Participate in the distribution of medication, including medication cassettes, emergency medication carts, and the delivery of controlled substances per department policy and state and federal requirements. </li><li>Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return them (and process any necessary credits) to the appropriate pharmacy area. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Filling: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Assist in the preparation of proper oral medications for the correct patient, ensuring administration at the appropriate time. </li><li>Use proper technique in medication preparation. </li><li>Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting, and stocking practices.
