The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with product development, manufacturing, logistics, and marketing teams to deliver high-quality packaging systems.</p> <p>Job Location</p> <ul> <li>This is a remote role based in Bulls Gap, TN with expected travel up to 50% </li></ul> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design and develop packaging for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards </li><li>Conduct packaging testing (e.g., drop, vibration, compression) to validate performance </li><li>Collaborate with suppliers to source materials and evaluate packaging technologies </li><li>Optimize packaging for cost, sustainability, and supply chain efficiency </li><li>Work with multiple materials (Wood, Shrink Wrap, Cardboard, etc.) to develop packaging solutions </li><li>Identify areas of process improvements and develop implementation steps with affected teams </li><li>Create collaboration with Marketing and Product Development and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, and documentation </li><li>Support continuous improvement initiatives and troubleshoot packaging-related issues in production or distribution </li><li>Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies, including NMFT compliance </li><li>Maintenance and management of master data and accuracy review for packaging specifications </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field </li><li>2+ years of experience in packaging design and development (heavy industrials, consumer goods, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, or similar industries preferred) </li><li>Strong knowledge in packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability practices </li><li>Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) and packaging testing protocols </li><li>Strong project management and communication skills </li><li>Knowledge of sustainability practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO, ASTM) </li><li>Experience with automation and packaging machinery </li><li>Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools </li><li>Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>Base salary is $125,000 - $140,000 </li><li>Bonus eligible </li><li>401(k) / retirement savings program </li><li>Short- term and long-term disability benefits </li><li>Life insurance </li><li>Health, Dental.
