<p>Application deadline for this job is December 23rd, 2025</p> <p>BASIC JOB FUNCTION</p> <p>The Maintainer, under supervision, will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including refrigeration systems, cooling towers, steam and hot water boiler plants, air distribution, controls and building management systems, as well as perform related work.</p> <p>Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct NYBG's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.</p> <p>SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Perform related work in and around all Garden facilities including equipment diagnostics and repair; emergency response to equipment failure and safety compliance. </li><li>Perform all types of general mechanical room maintenance, including, carpentry, plumbing. electrical, painting, masonry, and specifically HVAC in all Garden facilities. </li><li>Performs related work as required by the NYBG within all on-site and off-site facilities including special projects, events and temporary places of assembly. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>High School Graduate or GED, certificate from trade school in HVAC/R or 3-5 years in related position in the HVAC/Rindustry </li><li>A Type II EPA Certification for reclamation of refrigerants </li><li>A Valid driver's license required </li><li>A NYFD Refrigeration License preferred </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <ul> <li>Ability to move over 30 pounds </li></ul> <p>WORK SCHEDULE</p> <ul> <li>Sunday - Thursday, 12AM - 8 AM </li><li>Evening and afternoon shift work required </li></ul> <p>SALARY</p> <ul> <li>$62,097 </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <ul> <li>15 Vacation Days </li><li>12 Paid Holidays </li><li>10 Sick Days </li><li>Health Coverage </li><li>401K </li><li>Pension Plan </li></ul> <p>If you require an accommodation for any part of the application process, please notify the Human Resources department at HR@nybg.org</p> <p>EOE/BIPOC/F/Persons with disabilities/Veterans</p>
