<p>Job Details</p> <p>(SUBJECT TO BUDGET AVAILABILITY)</p> <p>Position:</p> <p>Teacher Assigned A - Teacher Assigned - Math Implementation Specialist Middle Schools</p> <p>Office of School Leadership</p> <p>One-year position - Option to reapply - Position commences September 2025</p> <p>(FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CANDIDATES) Districts 15 and 26. Assignment by district</p> <p>Locations:</p> <p>Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,11, 12, 13, 14, 16,17, 18,19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25,27, 28, 29,30, 31, 32, 75</p> <p>Eligibility:</p> <p>Applicants must possess a valid New York State teaching certificate and a New York City license in one of the following areas. Tenure is preferred.</p> <p>? Childhood Education (Common Branch) (grades 1-6)</p> <p>? Secondary Mathematics (7-12)</p> <p>? Secondary Education (7-12)</p> <p>? Students with Disabilities (7-12)</p> <p>? Students with Disabilities (grades 1-6)</p> <p>? Students with Disabilities (K-12)</p> <p>? English to Speakers of other Languages (all grades) (including bilingual)</p> <p>Selection Criteria:</p> <p>? At least eight years of successful teaching experience working in schools with significant experience in Mathematics.</p> <p>? A minimum of three consecutive years of satisfactory, effective, or highly effective ratings.</p> <p>? Strong knowledge of teacher development.</p> <p>? Demonstrated knowledge of building conceptual understanding in mathematics.</p> <p>? Proven experience and expertise in the implementation of a standards-based math curriculum/program.</p> <p>? Demonstrated success working collaboratively with other professional staff on math instruction, curricular implementation, and assessment.</p> <p>? Proven experience in taking initiative in challenging situations resulting in positive outcomes.</p> <p>? Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.</p> <p>? Excellent presentation skills.</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>? Prior experience as a coach, or other position that involves supporting teachers.</p> <p>? Experience with middle school mathematics.</p> <p>? Knowledge of and commitment to research-based/proven approaches to core math instruction; differentiated instruction as applicable for students learning English as a new language, for students with disabilities, and for students striving to develop conceptual understanding in math; data-driven decision-making; outcome-based accountability; and continuous adult learning, all as drivers of improved student achievement in mathematics.</p> <p>? Knowledge of Imagine Learning Illustrative Math, Amplify Desmos Mathematics and/or iReady Classroom</p> <p>? Understanding of national, state, and city Math standards and the research-based/proven Math curricular protocols, programs and technologies, theory concerning problem-based math instruction, and connected research-based/proven practices.</p> <p>? Ability to interpret, apply, and disseminate this knowledge and research base for implementation by teachers and leaders.</p> <p>? Experience in providing in-class support, conducting collaborative planning meetings, and facilitating professional learning.</p> <p>? Well-developed ability to analyze, organize, and clearly explain data to indicate impact and implications for mathematics instruction.</p> <p>Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Math Implementation Specialist for High School Grades is responsible for the ongoing development and support of school teams and the design and delivery of professional learning experiences and associated resources for schools.</p> <p>? During the 2024-2025 school year, work with schools to conduct a needs assessment to determine mathematics content and pedagogical areas requiring support in the Curriculum Implementation.</p> <p>? Supports the math-based work of teachers, teacher teams, and administrators as a math specialist across a high school superintendency, using the Mathematics Office's framework as a guide.</p> <p>? Collaborates with central/district/principals and other school leaders to develop a math vision and identifies concrete goals; identifies specific action steps to improve teacher practices that result in measurable student outcomes.</p> <p>? Serves as a coordinator and professional learning facilitator to both teachers and administrators for Mathematics content and instruction, with expertise and responsibility for the curriculum implementation.</p> <p>? Organizes, manages, and facilitates the sharing of best practices in Mathematics instruction, pedagogy, and assessment with schools in support of curriculum initiatives.</p> <p>? Engages the mathematics community across districts and schools in the discussion and use of mathematics assessment data, units, lessons, and the work of teachers and students in curriculum implementation.</p> <p>? Continuously collects and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to assess the impact of implementation support and measure schools' progress toward their math visions and goals.</p> <p>? Develops a year-long implementation action plan for math instruction and assessment for each assigned school which includes capacity building, teacher development, and sustainability.</p> <p>? In partnership with teachers and leaders, develops an increased, common understanding of promising practices; and implements these across a network of schools through intervisitations and professional learning sessions.</p> <p>? Makes constructive use of provided implementation tools and resources with assistance from supervisors and senior directors.</p> <p>? Keeps accurate and timely records related to supports provided to schools.</p> <p>? Works closely with a small group of other math specialists to observe each other, provide and receive feedback, and identify strategies to accelerate school-based teacher and leader math development.</p> <p>? Sets and continuously refines personal curriculum implementation goals. Regularly meets with a supervisor to assess and discuss progress towards implementation goals, and evidence of progress.</p> <p>? Meet regularly with the entire math specialist team to pursue and meet established programmatic annual goals.</p> <p>? Attends ongoing professional learning sessions for math specialists provided by NYCPS central staff and implements the work studied in these sessions in the schools to which the specialist is assigned.</p> <p>?
