<p>Specialist, Instructional Design</p> <p>Department: Instructional Design & Learning Excellence</p> <p>Location: Jerry Sue Thornton Center</p> <p>Reports To: Director, Instructional Design & Learning Excellence</p> <p>Recruitment Type: External/Internal</p> <p>Requisition ID: req6010</p> <p>Employment Type: Administration and Professionals</p> <p>Union Position: Non-Union</p> <p>Work Schedule: Standard College Hours: M-F 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.</p> <p>Number of Openings: 2</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Collaborates with faculty, subject-matter experts, and key stakeholders to design and develop engaging, accessible, and pedagogically sound course content for face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online learning environments. This role supports faculty of all experience levels in leveraging instructional technologies, multimedia, and emerging digital tools to enhance student learning in the design process. The Instructional Design Specialist contributes to the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of instructional materials and professional development opportunities.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supports faculty in identifying, evaluating, and implementing instructional technologies and digital media to enhance teaching and learning across in-person, hybrid, and online environments</p> </li><li> <p>Provides expertise in instructional design principles, accessibility, and the effective pedagogical use of technology to support student engagement and success</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with the Senior Instructional Designer and other team members to develop high-quality instructional resources, including templates, interactive media, and faculty support materials</p> </li><li> <p>Offers guidance and technical assistance to faculty throughout the instructional design and content development process</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the design, development, and facilitation of faculty development workshops focused on technology-enhanced teaching, in collaboration with Academic Professional Development, and Online Learning & Academic Technology (OLAT)</p> </li><li> <p>Supports faculty in adapting and optimizing instructional materials for different delivery formats</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates and prioritizes instructional design projects to ensure the timely development of high-quality course materials and resources</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains access for faculty to the Center for Learning Excellence (CLE) by managing the physical space and upkeep of technology and equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and promotes a schedule of instructional design and technology consultations and training opportunities in collaboration with the Center for Learning Excellence and other campus partners</p> </li><li> <p>Collects and analyzes faculty feedback and usage data to assess the effectiveness of instructional design support services and recommend improvements</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's Degree</p> </li><li> <p>Significant related experience may substitute for education</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience integrating academic technology into teaching and learning</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the operations within a department</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations</p> </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <p>Possess working knowledge of multimedia instructional concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to provide support virtually, and when appropriate travel between campuses to provide in person support</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated success in consulting with full-time and adjunct faculty to encourage experimentation and integration of academic technology</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated skills in multimedia production</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent project management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with various specialized, instructional software</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated success in developing and conducting one-on-one and group training opportunities</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated proficiency with related tools and software screen capture software, Learning Managements systems (i.e. Blackboard), videos, student response systems, and interactive learning tools</p> </li><li> <p>Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent software</p> </li><li> <p>Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to functionally supervise student employees as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate, persuade and gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to develop and maintain relationships
