<p>NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK</p> <p>Minuteman teachers are responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction designed to foster the success of their students. Minuteman's curriculum is deeply integrated among its career majors and academic disciplines. Individuals applying for this position will commit to working collaboratively with instructors within and across all disciplines. Minuteman is committed to practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates will participate in Professional Learning Communities on school-wide goals and academic-vocational integration activities. Candidates will ensure personal and professional growth on a yearly basis with a focus on continuous improvement in student learning.</p> <p>Major Responsibilities:</p> <p>Provide instruction, assessment, curriculum accommodations, and modifications as indicated on IEPs.</p> <p>Act as a liaison for students receiving special education services; develop and write IEPs cooperatively with parents and other staff members and manage and monitor IEP progress.</p> <p>Must maintain compliance with all special education timelines and due dates.</p> <p>Be familiar with special education laws and regulations at both the state and federal levels.</p> <p>Communicate with parents and general education teachers to provide appropriate services to students and monitor progress toward objectives.</p> <p>Teach pull-out special education classes including but not limited to academic support.</p> <p>Special Education teachers will teach inclusion classes as assigned:</p> <p>Co-teach, plan, grade assignments, and be involved in classroom management activities on an equal basis with the general education teacher.</p> <p>Function as an equal in the classroom, contributing to all teaching requirements in accordance with this job description.</p> <p>Work with general education teachers recommending instructional strategies, learning style preferences, and accommodations for special needs learners as needed in a regular classroom.</p> <p>Demonstrate appropriate application of interdisciplinary instruction.</p> <p>Apply a variety of teaching techniques to the delivery of instruction.</p> <p>Participate in the delivery of related student services.</p> <p>Complete assessments, evaluations, and written reports of students as assigned for purposes of initial and re-evaluations as appropriate.</p> <p>Design well-structured units and engaging lessons guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards.</p> <p>Use a variety of timely assessments to measure and report student progress.</p> <p>Differentiate and scaffold instruction while providing clear and high expectations.</p> <p>Relate subject matter to real-world settings and other content areas.</p> <p>Create a trauma-informed class climate that promotes inclusion, embraces diversity, and maintains equity.</p> <p>Build a culturally responsive learning environment where every student participates and is valued as part of the class community.</p> <p>Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for re-certification.</p> <p>Regularly reflect on practice, seek and respond to feedback, and demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development.</p> <p>Maintain current curriculum maps.</p> <p>Promote a professional culture characterized by competence, caring, and collaboration.</p> <p>Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building principal.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION</p> <p>Bachelor Degree in Special Education or related field,</p> <p>Certification by the Bureau of Certification and Placement Department of Education, in Special Education at the secondary level.</p> <p>Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff</p> <p>Working knowledge of Massachusetts's Curriculum Frameworks</p> <p>Ability to differentiate instruction across all curricular content areas and language proficiency levels</p> <p>.</p> <p>Conditions of employment</p> <p>Equipment Used: Copier, smart board, phone, computer.
