We are accredited by the highly regarded Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP, formerly NCATE) and have held that accreditation longer than any other institution in the state.</p> <p>Position Profile</p> <p>The Assistant Dean for Professional Programs and Certification Officer will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of professional programs within the School of Education and will play a key role in shaping the next generation of exceptional educators. This position oversees the coordination, monitoring, and administration of professional programs including student teaching, certification, and licensure processes for the School of Education and ensuring compliance with state and national accreditation requirements. The Assistant Dean for Professional Programs and Certification Officer also oversees student database information and manages Title II reporting, directly contributing to the effectiveness of the School's academic programs. Working closely with faculty, staff, and external partners, this position plays a vital role in supporting student success, upholding academic standards, and advancing the School's mission to prepare highly qualified teachers that will excel in the classroom.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations as well as University and BOR/CSCU policies and procedures; Knowledge of and ability to apply best practices in working with specialized student populations; Extensive knowledge of and ability to coordinate and conduct programming and outreach; Considerable ability to use computers, computerized systems, platforms and software including Microsoft Office Suite; Proficient interpersonal skills and presentation skills including use of presentation software; Oral and written communication skills required; Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; Ability to collect, analyze, and prepare data. Ability to prepare reports and other materials; Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collegial manner with students, faculty, staff, administration, and the public. Progressive leadership or managerial role that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of strategic planning, management, team building, leadership skills, fiscal management, and best practices.</p> <p>Applicant Evaluative Criteria</p> <p>Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>All applicants must possess a Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in an appropriate field.</p> <p>Experience and training:</p> <ul> <li>Four (4) years of experience in an academic environment </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the objectives and needs of undergraduate and/or graduate students pursuing teacher certification. </li></ul> <p>Ideal Candidate</p> <p>Preference will be given to applicants with the following:</p> <ul> <li>Earned Doctorate </li><li>Professional experience in administering academic operations, programs, and services. </li><li>Familiarity with teacher certification regulations and procedures </li><li>Experience with state of Connecticut certification processes and understanding of accreditation processes. </li></ul> <p>Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.</p> <p>To Apply</p> <p>To begin the application process, select the "Apply" button and electronically submit the following documents by August 18, 2025.</p> <ul> <li>Letter of interest addressing the qualifications for this position. </li><li>Current Résumé </li><li>Names of three current professional references with title, email addresses and telephone numbers. </li></ul> <p>Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
