<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Paraprofessional/Kindergarten Classroom/Supervisory Paraprofessional</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>8/25/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>SMITH ELEMENTARY</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Plymouth-Canton Community Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>PLACEMENT: General Education</p> <p>PRIMARY ASSIGNEMNT: Kindergarten Classroom Paraprofessional</p> <p>LOCATION: Smith Elementary School</p> <p>HOURS: Monday-Friday</p> <p>37.5 hours week</p> <p>8:30am - 4:30pm</p> <p>Classroom Learning Support and Supervisory</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>High school graduate or equivalent</p> <ul> <li>An Associate Degree in child development (preferred) </li><li>Experience working with children in a school setting preferred </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children, staff, public and families </li><li>Knowledge of Child Development </li><li>Knowledge of Early Literacy and Numeracy Development </li><li>Knowledge and awareness of Culturally Responsive Practices </li><li>Ability to support behavior of students with a focus on teaching behaviors </li><li>Knowledge and awareness of Social Emotional Competencies </li><li>Familiarity with de-escalation and redirection techniques </li><li>Good communication skills </li><li>Good attendance record </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Support students in the classroom with learning experiences and activities </li><li>Functions under the direction of the classroom teacher and supports students with classroom instruction throughout the day </li><li>Leads specific individual or small group learning activities as assigned by the teacher </li><li>Supports student behavior through redirection, modeling, direct teaching and positive reinforcement </li><li>Collects data for MTSS and progress monitoring data related to behavior and academics as needed </li><li>Engages in supporting students in practicing problem solving, creative thinking and social interactions with peers </li><li>Engages with students through interaction and conversation to support cognitive, social emotional, physical and language development </li><li>Assists students during specials classes with learning and behavior support </li><li>Provides opportunities for movement, sensory breaks or other integration activities to support individual student needs </li><li>Participates in group activities to model behavior, direction and visual support to students </li><li>Assists and supervises elementary students during arrival, dismissal and lunch, including outdoors and the lunchroom as assigned by supervisor </li><li>Bending, lifting and overhead work required </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li><li>Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students </li></ul> <p>This description is intended to describe the essential job functions, the general supplemental functions and the essential requirements for the performance of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
