<p>Unix Administrator- Hybrid Remote- Albany, NY Capital Region</p> <p>We're looking for a versatile, experienced UNIX Administrator in the Capital Albany Region to join our team in 2026 and support our client. This is a full-time role with Railroad19. You will provide expert UNIX administration services to support, maintain, and enhance the reliability, security, and performance of a multi-site UNIX, Linux, and VMware server environment. Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, supporting mission-critical operations, advising stakeholders on best practices, driving innovation, and delivering high-quality technical outcomes. Installation, upgrade, and patching of UNIX, Linux, and VMware operating systems and server software. </li><li>Performance tuning and resource optimization reports. </li><li>Capacity planning and lifecycle management documentation. </li><li>Security hardening and compliance documentation (including SOC1, NERC CIP, CIS benchmarks). </li><li>Technical support logs and incident response records. </li><li>Detailed system configuration and function documentation. </li><li>Audit support data and compliance attestations. </li><li>Procurement and license management reports. </li><li>Automation scripts and documentation for improved operational efficiency. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Proven expert experience in UNIX administration services to support, maintain, and enhance reliability, security, and performance </li><li>Experience working in a multi-site UNIX, Linux, and VMware server environments </li><li>Hands-on experience working with Red Hat & Linux, VMware </li><li>Experience working in a regulated environment and ability to be flexible while adhering to proven processes in compliance and regulatory standards </li><li>Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities </li><li>Effective communicator and collaborator </li><li>Focused on consistently delivering sustainable customer value in a highly regulated environment </li><li>Previous experience working with Veritas InfoScale preferred but not required </li><li>Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline; or equivalent work experience </li><li>Ability to travel to the Albany Capital District region near Albany, New York, is required - hybrid remote role to work in the office 3 days a week. </li></ul> <p>$120,000 - $150,000 a year</p> <p>We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
