<p>CITY OF MARTINSBURG</p> <p>BUILDING INSPECTOR I</p> <p>The City of Martinsburg is now accepting applications for a Building Inspector (Building Inspector I) in the Planning Department.</p> <p>Graduation from high school or GED with four (3) years' experience in general construction, building inspection and related fields, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license and insurability are required.</p> <p>Applicant must demonstrate their ability to be certified as an "Inspector" by the International Code Council. Certifications required for this position include the B1 (Residential Building Inspector), and R3 (residential plans examiner). Successful completion of all required certifications must be obtained within two years of hire.</p> <p>The successful candidate will enforce provisions of the WV Sate Building Code and/or the Property Maintenance Code. The Building Inspector I issues correction notices and citations, assists in researching problems and complaints regarding residential and commercial building construction and code compliance.</p> <p>The Building Inspector I will perform on site pre-construction inspections for setbacks, excavation, clearing and grading, inspect and approve footers, foundations, floor joist, framing, slabs, insulation etc. of both public and private structures, respond to complaints of potential building code violations, review building permit applications, site plans, building plans and performs other duties as required.</p> <p>Applicant must have strong working knowledge of technology including skills in data entry, building and maintaining reports and letter writing. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with the public both verbally and in writing.</p> <p>Offer commensurate with qualifications and work experience.
