For further information, please contact Jennifer Douglas, Supervisor, Early Learning Program, 330-761-3146.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS - Required:</p> <p>Valid Ohio Department of Education teaching licensure for Early Childhood and Early Childhood Intervention Specialist.</p> <p>Desired:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in Early Childhood education; </li><li>A commitment to working with students, professionals, and community members in a multicultural setting; </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative relationship with other teachers in the development of curriculum plans and materials; </li><li>Flexibility in scheduling and working with students and staff; </li><li>Skills with augmentative communication; </li><li>Willingness to work in collaboration with other school personnel. </li></ul> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, implement, facilitate, and evaluate the educational program for preschool children with and without disabilities; </li><li>Guide the learning process toward the achievement of Preschool standards and establish clear objectives for the preschool experience; </li><li>Work closely with related service providers (SLP, OT, PT) and itinerant preschool teachers, to meet the child's individual classroom needs as identified on the individualized educational program (IEP); </li><li>Provide families with resources and embed routine activities to support IEP goals and objectives; </li><li>Work with parents and help them understand early childhood education and what they can do at home to extend classroom activities; </li><li>Document progress on IEP goals, consult with special education staff to collaborate on IEP goals and objectives for children when needed and prepare progress reports for assigned children; </li><li>Demonstrate physical and mental capabilities in working with preschool children; </li><li>Guide the learning process toward the achievement of Preschool standards and establish clear objectives for the preschool experiences; </li><li>Participate, as a member of the ELP evaluation team, in the evaluation process for children suspected of having a disability; </li><li>Create, prepare, and adapt materials, as needed, for preschool children; </li><li>Make immediate referral of suspected child abuse and/or neglect to proper authorities and notify ELP Coordinator; </li><li>Determines physical condition of children as it relates to management of communicable disease as stated in the preschool rules; </li><li>Manage assigned cases as the primary service provider; </li><li>Provide modeling of intervention and teaching techniques and strategies to other providers working with preschool students, as needed; </li><li>Lead communication between related service providers, districts, teachers and families; </li><li>Maintain updated individual records for each child and ensures their confidentiality; </li><li>Maintain a good working relationship with people in charge of community-based preschools, church centers, and public school's preschools; </li><li>Attend pre-service, in-service, and required staff meetings; </li><li>Accept a share of responsibility for all program activities; </li><li>Reports and carries out any other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or the Early Learning Program Coordinator. </li></ul> <p>If you require any special services (such as interpreters, braille or large print, or wheelchair accessible accommodations) covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Public Law 101-336, Section 102, please call the Department of Human Resources at 330-761-2952.
