<p>Description</p> <p>General Services Department</p> <p>Graffiti Removal Attendant</p> <p>Under general supervision, perform a variety of duties involved in the removal of graffiti from city owned properties, structures and parks and perform general cleaning in municipal buildings and facilities.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Survey building, structures etc. to determine what tasks are to be performed and decipher art from graffiti. </li><li>Use chemical solvents to remove the graffiti as necessary. </li><li>Stir and ensure proper consistency of graffiti remover solution. </li><li>Power wash buildings structures, viaducts, traffic signs and other city own property to remove graffiti. </li><li>Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment on and off trucks in a proper and safe manner. </li><li>Operate specialized vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Trim bushes and remove debris to access hard to reach areas on buildings, structures, etc. </li><li>Apply shadow remover product to remove shadowed graffiti that wasn't originally removed. </li><li>Perform custodial duties that includes, but is not limited to, sweeping, mopping, waxing, stripping, sealing cleaning floors, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, offices, kitchens and cafeterias. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications (required):</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School graduation or G.E.D. (General Education Development)</p> </li><li> <p>One (1) year of experience in the removal of graffiti preferred but not required.</p> </li><li> <p>Aerial Platform Work Permit preferred but not required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Licenses, Certifications, and Other Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Valid State of Michigan Operator License. </li></ul> <p>Equivalency:</p> <ul> <li>Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Evaluation Plan</p> <ul> <li>Interview: P/F </li><li>Evaluation of Training, Experience & Personal Qualifications: 100% </li><li>Total of Interview and Evaluation T.E.P:100% </li></ul> <p>Additional points may be awarded for:</p> <ul> <li>Veteran Points: 0 - 15 points </li><li>Detroit Residency Credit: 15 points </li></ul> <p>LRD: 07/26/2023</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment as applied to offices, and public buildings.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of safe working practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in physical and mechanical dexterity.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in observation.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in graffiti removal procedures and techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and write English and understand and follow oral instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate and maintain graffiti removal equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to practice safe handling of cleaning agents with chemicals, cleaning equipment, storage, and use of materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to determine art from graffiti.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to interact effectively with subordinates, department personnel and others with tact and diplomacy.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>The work is characterized as active. The Graffiti Removal Attendant bends, lifts and transports heavy objects and operations a variety of maintenance equipment. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to seasonal weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, dust, soot and pollen. </li></ul> <p>Candidates considered for placement in this classification may be subject to a Criminal Background Investigation based on the requirements of the position.</p> <p>The above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to the class.
