<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Summary: 2nd Shift Custodian</p> <p>Contract</p> <p>The District employee will provide support in all areas including cleaning the school facilities, hallways, classroom and lavatories, shoveling snow, and cleaning the outside buildings and grounds.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>The job description is illustrative and not a complete itemization of all duties and responsibilities of the position.</p> <p>The District employees:</p> <ul> <li>Perform housekeeping duties as laid out and scheduled by the Head Custodian. </li><li>Maintain a safe facility and follow safety procedures. </li><li>Complete assigned work in a timely manner and with a high level of cleanliness. </li><li>Maintain a good attendance record, report to work on time and complete work shifts. </li><li>Assume specific duties not limited to housekeeping and include the good and welfare of the entire facility. </li><li>Take self-initiative to maintain a high level of cleanliness with obvious hazards and clutter. </li><li>Must be able to work independently and exhibit great pride in assigned duties. </li><li>Demonstrate proper care and respect for equipment and supplies provided by the district to accomplish duties. </li><li>Accept assigned overtime as scheduled. </li><li>Cooperate, assist and get along with co-workers. </li><li>Display courteous, polite and helpful behavior to students, faculty and parents. </li></ul> <p>The District employee must be able to:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a stationary position to operate computer, printer, telephone and other desktop equipment </li><li>Hold a valid State of Connecticut driver's license. </li><li>Communicate effectively </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). </li><li>Working knowledge of custodial services </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <p>May be representative, but not all-inclusive of those associated with the position.</p> <ul> <li>Effective oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to acquire knowledge quickly and effectively. </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment, establish priorities and work independently. </li><li>Ability to operate email and work with computer-based programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite programs. </li><li>Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members and school staff. </li><li>Ability to perform a skills/knowledge based walkthrough periodically. </li></ul> <p>Background Check</p> <p>The District Grounds Maintenance employee must submit to a satisfactory</p> <ul> <li>CT Department of Children and Families background check. </li><li>State and national criminal history record check. </li></ul> <p>Documents necessary to complete the check must be submitted within 10 days of hire.</p> <p>Work Year</p> <p>This is a 12-month position.</p> <p>Job Type: Full-time</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>403(b) </li><li>Dental insurance </li><li>Health insurance </li><li>Vision insurance </li><li>Paid Time Off </li></ul> <p>Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Monday to Friday 3PM-11PM </li><li>Summer hours subject to change </li></ul> <p>Ability to commute/relocate:</p> <ul> <li>Killingworth, CT 06419: Reliably commute </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Custodian: 1 year (Preferred) </li></ul> <p>Work Location: Haddam-Killingworth Middle School</p>
