Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Previous candidates need not reapply</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The Public Health Administrator will supervise, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the activities related to the Protection Division.</p> <ul> <li>Assure grant compliance with the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as well as with the NELAC Institute (TNI) and EPA standards for drinking and wastewater testing. </li><li>Create supply request orders for supplies and designate applicable grant funding with appropriate financial coding for Protection Division. </li><li>Develop projects for activities or acquisitions of new grant applications. </li><li>Serve as the departmental operation chief for the Health District during emergency response. </li><li>Perform and advise hospital laboratories on proper collection, packaging, labeling, shipping and chain of custody handling procedures for samples suspected of containing biological, chemical, radiological and/or nuclear agents. </li><li>Complete the DSHS Regional and Local Public Health Service (RLSS) quarterly and end of the year grant deliverable and summary report. </li><li>Coordinate Infectious Disease Surveillance activities within Nueces County and elsewhere as needed. </li><li>Monitor, investigate, and report known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control of communicable and infectious diseases in the City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County. </li><li>Oversee the hiring and training of new personnel and in the disciplinary process of existing personnel within the Protection Division. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Clinical Laboratory, Medical Technology, Public Health, or related field </li><li>Masters Degree in Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Clinical Laboratory, Medical Technology, Public Health, or related field highly preferred </li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>Must be able to obtain FBI security clearance within 6 months of hire </li><li>ICC Incident Command 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 training programs required within one (1) year of hire </li><li>Must be able to obtain Infection Control certification within 12 months of hire </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
