<p>In this role, the Casting Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor will provide leadership for powertrain and structural castings from the initial concept and development through product launch. Your team will work with Product Development and Suppliers, to successfully develop and launch next-generation structural high pressure die castings. Successful candidates will have a proven record of leadership and product launch experience with the development and implementation of complex castings.</p> <p>This team will be focused on both the cast and trim tooling necessary for high pressure die casting. This includes the development of tooling standards, development of both casting and trim tooling designs, and the equipment and processes to maintain and repair both cast and trim dies. In this role, you will also have the responsibility to lead and develop a team. This process is a new to Ford manufacturing process and must combine both technical and leadership capabilities to drive success. Ideal candidates must navigate and drive change in a complex internal environment, challenging the status quo as we define an all-new way of manufacturing vehicles.</p> <p>The Casting Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor will provide leadership for powertrain and structural castings from the initial concept and development through product launch.</p> <p>What you'll do:</p> <ul> <li>Lead a manufacturing engineering team to execute casting design reviews, set cast and trim tooling design strategy and select our supplier partners to help deliver the strategy. This will also include the selection and commissioning of equipment to maintain the tooling. Ultimately, supporting launch and handoff of the tooling, equipment and processes to our manufacturing facility partners. </li><li>Utilize knowledge of quality processes and systems to meet stringent industry and customer requirements. </li><li>Drive "Voice of Manufacturing" throughout product development lifecycle to ensure robust, feasible, and manufacturable casting assembly designs. </li><li>Define and launch formal equipment and process standards for high pressure die cast tooling, casting and maintenance equipment. </li><li>Deliver on-time and on-budget launches for upcoming Casting programs. </li><li>Lead scope-of-work development and competitive bidding exercises for Unicasting manufacturing systems. </li><li>Perform supervisory duties including but not limited to objective and goal development, development discussions and performance reviews. </li><li>Assess employee competencies and support development and upskilling as necessary. Mentor less experienced employees within and outside of the organization related to Casting Engineering. </li><li>Support simultaneous engineering and feasibility engineering studies among product engineering, manufacturing engineering and supplier organizations. </li><li>Support the supplier selection evaluation process through manufacturing assessments and assist Purchasing in the evaluation, development, and selection of suppliers and subcontractors. </li><li>Evaluate innovative and disruptive emerging processes and material technologies for potential application to Ford products. </li><li>Support Product Engineering in the selection and specification of component materials and test procedures. </li><li>Define preventive maintenance frequencies and tool life standards for better process performance and productivity. </li><li>Lead design for cast tooling components (cavities inserts and injection components) and trim dies, and ensuring change control management of the tooling. </li></ul> <p>What you'll do:</p> <ul> <li>Lead a manufacturing engineering team to execute casting design reviews, set cast and trim tooling design strategy and select our supplier partners to help deliver the strategy.
