<p>The Librarian II supervises the employees and operations for a major area or function of library services in one or more of the following areas: Adult Services, Children & Youth Services, Collection and Technology Services, and inventHQ. </p> <p>This role has a high level of responsibility and includes all planning, directing, organizing, implementing, and coordinating in the assigned area. As a leader in the Library, Arts, History and CSU Extension Department, the Librarian II models the appropriate behavior to create and maintain a collaborative, innovative, and resilient work culture within the department.</p> <p>The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, agencies and the public in delivering effective and innovative services. They maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the community. While performing in-charge-of-building duties, they enforce safety policies and the Library's Code of Conduct procedures. </p> <p>This position leads the Children and Youth Services Division with a schedule that requires availability for one weekend shift per-month, and one evening shift per-week.</p> <p>(The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job. Examples of duties are not intended to be all-inclusive or restrictive.)</p> <ul> <li> <p>Leads the Children & Youth Services Library team to create and maintain a welcoming and safe space for children and their adult caregivers to meet one another and play together in the library to support social connections between families with young children</p> </li><li> <p>Leads the Children & Youth Services team to serve tween and teen library patrons throughout the library facility and off-site</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains professional knowledge of best practices and trends in child development, early literacy, elementary age library programming, teen and tween library programming and parent and caregiver support</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains professional knowledge of best practices and trends in children & youth reference services, digital resources, library technologies, accessibility, community support, and community referrals</p> </li><li> <p>With the Library Programming Manager, inventHQ Supervisor and Adult Services Supervisor, develops and implements annual programming goals and strategy</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates with the Library Programming Manager, Adult Services Supervisor, inventHQ Supervisor, Arts & History, CSU extension team members and Communications team to produce seasonal program guide</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates with the Library Operations Manager, Circulation Supervisor and Adult Services Supervisor to implement library services at the Children's reference desk and in the Children's Library space</p> </li><li> <p>Partners with local nonprofits and government agencies that serve children, youth and caregivers </p> </li><li> <p>Maintains professional knowledge of CCOB brand guidelines, providing training for new staff and checking for brand adherence of department publications</p> </li><li> <p>Provides training to all staff who work at the Children's Desk on readers advisory for the Children's Library collection, reference interviews for children and caregivers, de-escalation and expectations surrounding Code of Conduct enforcement</p> </li><li> <p>With the Library Operations Manager and other library supervisors, develops and implements annual operations goals and strategy</p> </li></ul> <p>For more essential tasks related to the Librarian II role - please review the job description. </p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from an accredited college or university in library science or records/information management or closely related field. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>4 years of library experience with at least two years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in the assigned area of library work. This experience must also include supervisory or lead work, which demonstrates the ability to perform the Essential Required Tasks. </li></ul> <p>Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.</p> <p>(The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities and neuro-differences to perform the essential functions.)</p> <ul> <li> <p>Some evening and weekend hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Work is performed at City/County work locations with the ability to perform some duties remotely in accordance with Broomfield's remote work policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects).</p> </li><li> <p>Tasks may require use of a computer for several hours.</p> </li><li> <p>This position is eligible to work from home up to 1 day x week with the approval of their supervisor.</p> </li></ul>
