<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>The Technical Leader (or TL) leads projects and initiatives in the development, qualification and manufacturability of complex and critical cored SX (single crystal) and DS (directional solidification) components for Gas Power Supply Chain. The Technical Leader will be responsible and accountable throughout the entire manufacturing process for dimensional and metallurgical adherence to specifications of New Part Introduction Programs (or NPI) up to the release to production.</p> <p>The TL must:</p> <ul> <li>Act as an engineering expert on the products that are being launched. </li><li>Effectively understand and communicate specifications. </li><li>Resolve difficult production problems. </li><li>Foster a dynamic and engaging environment that encourages others to find creative solutions. </li><li>Manage conflict effectively. </li><li>Respond well to change, manage unexpected challenges and issues without losing focus on key objectives. </li><li>Promote continuous improvement. </li><li>Proactively engage across disciplines, operations, and the organization. </li><li>Provide mentorship and coaching to both senior and junior engineers. </li></ul> <p>The Technical Leader will work onsite at our Investment Casting Foundry in Schenectady Cores and Castings where you will get to work with innovative technologies.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Roles and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide technical leadership for a team of engineers for all product design aspects of the assigned NPI programs. </li><li>Key stakeholder in developing the NPI strategy for the plant and NPI schedules. </li><li>Review product specifications and work cross-department on ensuring a quality product that meets requirements. </li><li>Guide and mentor Product Engineers in understanding part specific requirements, problem-solving methodology, management methods and NPI procedures. </li><li>Responsible operationally of NPI Product Engineers. Defines technical workstream, develops, organizes and prioritizes NPI Product Engineers tasks and schedules. At the same time, support and help the team to meet milestones. </li><li>Accountable for NPI Products ensuring that targeted yield and production output are met before release for production AND as scheduled. </li><li>Statistically and comprehensively analyze product defects and implement countermeasures to improve yield. Identifies and validate root cause using problem-solving tools. </li><li>Communicate product status and issues to Engineering Leader and all levels of the organization as needed. </li><li>Supervise, direct and manage the NPI Product Engineers' activities regarding product tool/part designs. </li><li>Responsible for the definition and implementation of control plan, FMEA. </li><li>Own dimensional qualification packages to meet customer requirements as well as major quality documents: MPP, PQP for all NPI launched. </li><li>Provide technical inputs to Design Engineering on producibility of designs and advise for potential design alternatives or criteria alleviations to designs with producibility issues. </li><li>Support the evaluation and implementation of cost and product improvements and drives problem solving activities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. </li><li>Responsible for creating an environment of engagement and fostering development of the NPI product engineering team. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry or technical field/related area. </li><li>Minimum of 10 years in manufacturing operations/production with demonstrated ability to focus on problem solving. </li><li>Fluency with CAD software, preferably with Siemens NX. </li><li>3 years of Experience in new part introduction and/or product start ups. </li></ul> <p>Eligibility Requirements</p> <ul> <li>This position is 100% onsite at the GE Schenectady plant and 1st shift. </li><li>Must be currently legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future. </li><li>Relocation assistance considered only within the USA. </li></ul> <p>Desired Characteristics</p> <ul> <li>Strong problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and activities. </li><li>Strong time management and communication skills. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
