<ol> <li> <p>Ensures the satisfaction of all users of the department's services, internal and external according to the hospital's customer service standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs donor screening to ensure donor's eligibility per CCHC, CDC, FDA, AABB, and CAP standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all aspects of whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs whole blood collections on offsite blood drives and in donor center.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and labels blood components and samples for testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs accurate documentation on all blood donor records and data entry including donor deferrals into the computer system and ensures all quality control standards are met.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with donor recruitment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs daily inventory and replenishment of all donor care supplies as needed. Sends a list of supplies to be ordered to the Supervisor or designee.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtains appropriate blood specimens from donors and patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains workbenches, testing areas and other work areas in a clean, sanitary and free of clutter condition for the safety of patients, guests and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains a thorough knowledge of departmental and Hospital policies and procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire and disaster plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested.</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional DONOR ROOM SPECIALIST I PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Makes recommendations for workflow practices, improvements in quality and/or efficiency to the immediate supervisor.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists Section Supervisors and Pathologist in maintaining programs including but not limited to: quality control, instrument calibration, quality assurance an improvement and development of new methodologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains professional growth and development through seminars workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional DONOR ROOM SPECIALIST II PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li>Trains, orients and mentors new hires and/or students on procedures and operations of the department. </li></ol> <p>Donor Care Specialist I - Grade S9, Job Code: 8255</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read, write and communicate in English. </li><li>Minimum of High School Diploma/GED or higher. </li><li>Prior phlebotomy experience required. </li><li>Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and to work under pressure. </li><li>(Preferred) National Certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program. </li><li>(BLS) - Basic Life Support certification (obtain within 90 days of position start, offered within). </li><li>Proficiency in using computers/laptops. </li></ul> <p>Donor Care Specialist II - Grade S10A, Job Code: 7062</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read, write and communicate in English. </li><li>Minimum of High School Diploma/GED or higher. </li><li>Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and to work under pressure. </li><li>Minimum one-year experience as a donor phlebotomist. </li><li>Working knowledge of blood groups and Rh types and donation procedures. </li><li>(BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification and must maintain certification. </li><li>(PBT or DPT) - PBT Certification through either NHA or ASCP, which must be maintained, or </li><li>Current Donor Phlebotomy (DPT) certification with American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), if already obtained prior to June 2024. </li><li>Proficiency in using computers/laptops. </li></ul>
