<p>Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time appointments hired on a semester-by-semester, as-needed basis. Adjunct faculty are responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that helps students achieve their educational goals and for delivering effective instruction and assessment using common syllabi provided by the school.</p> <p>Major Responsibilities</p> <p>Program Operation</p> <ul> <li>Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach assigned courses and facilitate student learning. </li><li>Provide students with the appropriate course syllabus and adhere to all syllabus content and requirements. </li><li>Maintain accurate attendance and grading records in accordance with college policies as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. </li><li>Submit required reports and information within established timelines. </li></ul> <p>Students</p> <ul> <li>Be available to students outside of scheduled class times to answer questions and provide academic assistance. </li><li>Address student concerns and consult with the program coordinator when necessary to resolve issues. </li></ul> <p>Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Meet all scheduled classes for contracted courses. </li><li>Use instructional technologies (e.g., Ivy Learn, PowerPoint, and other relevant tools) as appropriate. </li><li>Notify the program or department chair in the event of an emergency absence. </li></ul> <p>Conduct all instructional activities with respect for diversity of individuals, learning styles, perspectives, and backgrounds, and actively promote inclusivity as part of professional practice.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Adjunct faculty must demonstrate strong working knowledge of current technologies relevant to their area of instruction and meet faculty credential requirements as outlined in ASOM 7.1, as applicable to the specific discipline.</p> <p>A qualified adjunct faculty member meets the technical course standard through one of the following pathways:</p> <ul> <li>Meets the full-time faculty discipline standard; or </li><li>Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman's card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and </li><li>Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or </li><li>Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and </li><li>5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or </li><li>Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education License (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE: Trade & Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and </li><li>Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR). </li></ul> <p>Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
