Each of us is a neighbor, a friend, a family member, and together, we are a trusted community health center.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>As a board-certified oral maxillofacial surgeon, focus on treating conditions, defects, injuries, and aesthetics of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face, with a specific emphasis on serving underserved populations. This would involve performing surgical procedures, diagnosing oral and maxillofacial issues, providing preventive care, and educating patients on oral health.</p> <p>SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Performing oral and maxillofacial surgeries, including tooth extractions and other surgical procedures related to the mouth, teeth, and jaws within the scope of a board certified oral maxillofacial surgeon. </li><li>Examining patients, utilizing x-rays and other diagnostic tools to determine the nature of oral health conditions and developing treatment plans. </li><li>Providing preventive dental services and educating patients on oral hygiene and dental health maintenance. </li><li>Administering anesthesia for procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety. </li><li>Advising patients on oral health conditions compassionately and with cultural competence. </li><li>Working with other healthcare professionals, such as general dentists, medical doctors, and specialists, to provide comprehensive patient care. </li><li>Depending on the FQHC structure, potentially supervising other dental staff, including hygienists and assistants. </li><li>Ensuring compliance with safety protocols, including those related to OSHA/Bloodborne pathogen requirements. </li><li>Performs other work-related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Education and Certification: Completion of an accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery program, followed by board certification. </li><li>Surgical Expertise: Proficiency in various oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. </li><li>Diagnostic Skills: Ability to accurately diagnose oral health conditions using various diagnostic tools. </li><li>Anesthesia Knowledge: Understanding and ability to administer different types of anesthesia. </li><li>Patient Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively explain procedures, answer questions, and build rapport with patients. </li><li>Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals. </li><li>Commitment to Public Health: A strong commitment to serving underserved populations and providing access to oral healthcare. </li><li>Cultural Competency: Understanding and respect for diverse patient populations. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>In order to fulfill the requirements of this position, duties 1-9 are considered essential functions of the job.</p> <p>ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT</p> <p>This position is required to participate in mandatory all staff meetings, team meetings and trainings.</p>
