<p>RH is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Upholstery Specialist to join our Dennis & Leen/Formations Workshop in Torrance, CA. This role brings our heritage pieces to life through refined craftsmanship, working with high-end fabrics, leathers, and traditional upholstery methods to create furniture that reflects the timeless character and elevated quality synonymous with our brand.</p> <p>YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Upholster frames for heritage and antique-inspired furniture using both traditional and modern techniques </li><li>Select, cut, and prepare fabrics, leathers, and padding materials aligned with design and craftsmanship standards </li><li>Execute decorative details, including tufting, pleating, piping, and nailhead trim, with precision and consistency </li><li>Partner closely with designers, artisans, and woodworkers to ensure seamless alignment between upholstery and frame construction </li><li>Inspect completed pieces to ensure they meet RH's standards for quality, durability, and aesthetic excellence </li><li>Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized workspace that supports craftsmanship and safety </li><li>Follow all workshop safety practices and uphold company quality guidelines </li></ul> <p>OUR REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of upholstery experience, ideally within high-end, luxury, or antique-style furniture manufacturing </li><li>Mastery of hand and machine upholstery techniques </li><li>Deep knowledge of fabrics, leathers, padding materials, and traditional upholstery methods </li><li>Proven craftsmanship in detailed decorative work (e.g., tufting, pleating, hand-tied applications) </li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing elevated, consistent work </li><li>Proficient in reading and interpreting design specifications, templates, and patterns </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a dynamic workshop environment </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Handles and moves furniture frames and upholstery materials weighing up to 75 lbs. regularly </li><li>Performs repetitive hand-tied motions and detailed alignment requiring strength and precision </li><li>Stands, bends, and lifts for extended periods in a workshop environment </li><li>Works in areas with exposure to dust, noise, and upholstery materials while adhering to safety and PPE standards </li><li>Operates hand tools and upholstery equipment requiring dexterity, control, and sustained focus </li></ul>
