<p>General Description</p> <p>Trainee $18.4218 - $23.9484</p> <p>Operator III $21.0911 - $27.4185</p> <p>Operator II $22.5675 - 29.3378</p> <p>Operator I $25.8376 - $33.5889</p> <p>This is an entry level wastewater collection system operator position. Duties include semi-skilled labor and maintenance support work necessary for the completion of specific tasks performed by the various field crews. Works under the direct supervision of the Collection Systems Supervisor.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Operates and assists in the operation of all equipment assigned to the Field Operations Division of the Utilities Department in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. </li><li>Assists in the installation and repair of wastewater mains and services, valves, ARVs and other system components. </li><li>Performs manual labor as required such as digging holes and ditches, grounds keeping and maintenance for all wastewater, and field operations facilities. </li><li>Operates various hand and power tools as well as electric and gas-powered equipment used for the installation, repair and maintenance of wastewater systems and infrastructure. </li><li>Performs general housekeeping duties as required, including but not limited to, operating, and maintaining vehicles, tools, and other operating equipment. </li><li>Assists senior Field Operations personnel as required to include assisting in the maintenance of all lift stations, water and wastewater mains, manholes, hydrants, and other system infrastructure. </li><li>Performs a wide variety of customer service-related duties to include response to customer inquiries and wastewater issues, collaborate and coordinate with other departments as needed, and perform duties in the public eye while maintaining a highly professional public image and good customer relations. </li><li>Performs clerical work as needed to include but not limited to recording data, completing work orders, filing and records maintenance. </li><li>Assist in establishing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures. </li><li>Responds to on call requests before or after standard scheduled hours and to work weekends and nights as required. </li><li>Follow directions and make decisions to complete tasks designated by his/her direct supervisor. </li><li>All other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>(These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned, including City-directed work assignments in the event of a declared emergency.)</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment required to perform assigned tasks. </li><li>Skilled in verbal and written communication along with strong customer service skills. </li><li>Skilled in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems. </li><li>Skilled in using computers for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes. </li><li>Ability to perform heavy manual labor; drive trucks and operate other light and heavy equipment necessary to perform assigned duties. </li><li>Ability to perform assigned work professionally, as neatly and quickly as possible to minimize inconvenience to the public. </li><li>Ability to work in a team environment, follow direct instructions, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other agencies, departments, employees, and the public. </li><li>Ability to be on call and to work weekends and nights as required. </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>·High School Diploma from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. </li></ul> <p>Please see specific job descriptions on the City's Website..</p> <p>Emergency Response Responsibility</p> <p>Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description.
