<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/5/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Ephrata Area School District -- District-Wide</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>August 2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>06/27/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher</p> <p>First Semester 2025-2026</p> <p>Ephrata Area School District, 803 Oak Boulevard, Ephrata, PA, is recruiting for the position of LTS Special Education Teacher.</p> <p>Middle School Emotional Support August 18 through approximately November 1, 2025</p> <p>High School Autistic Support Approximately November 1 through the end of the first semester, January 2026</p> <p>We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of students with autism spectrum disorder. The LTS Teacher will work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff to provide specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of each student.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct instruction and support to students, both individually and in small groups, within various educational settings. </li><li>Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other members of the special education team, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists. </li><li>Employ evidence-based teaching strategies and methodologies to address the academic, social, and behavioral needs of students with autism. </li><li>Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and self-advocacy. </li><li>Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to ensure meaningful educational outcomes. </li><li>Collaborate with general education teachers to modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students with autism. </li><li>Provide ongoing communication and support to parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and addressing any concerns. </li><li>Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities related to special education. </li><li>Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in autism education to continually enhance instructional methods and approaches. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education. </li><li>Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Special Education. </li><li>Knowledge of special education. </li><li>Experience working with individuals with autism in an educational setting is a plus. </li><li>Familiarity with a range of instructional approaches and behavioral interventions for students with autism. </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills. </li><li>Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of students. </li><li>Ability to adapt to different environments and travel between school locations as an itinerant teacher. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary and benefits package. </li><li>Professional development opportunities to further enhance skills in autism education and special education practices. </li><li>Opportunity to work within a collaborative and supportive educational community. </li><li>Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. </li></ul> <p>If you are a dedicated and compassionate educator with a strong commitment to supporting students,,we encourage you to apply for the position.</p> <p>Join our team and help create an inclusive and enriching learning experience for every student.</p> <p>WORKPLACE EXPECTATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must demonstrate regular and punctual attendance. Must interact positively with administration, students, staff, parents, and community members. </li><li>Must demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior & speech and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner. </li><li>Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority. </li><li>Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office. </li><li>Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance.</p> <p>The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.</p> <p>Status: Long Term Substitute</p> <p>Salary Range: Step 1/Bachelors</p> <p>The Ephrata Area School District will not discriminate in employment, education programs, or activities based on race, sex, handicap, or national origin.
