Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>To establish breastfeeding as the natural and optimal way to breastfeed infants.</p> <ul> <li>Provide information on breastfeeding by serving as a peer counselor, distributing breastfeeding information, issuing breast pumps, providing information materials and completing records and forms for department use. </li><li>Be able to assess, assist and resolve issues with breastfeeding. </li><li>Provide resource and reference material to support successful breast feeding of an infant. </li><li>Provide training on issuance, transfers, destruction, documentation and troubleshooting for breastfeeding equipment and breast feeding aids. </li><li>Ability to teach mothers how to assemble and properly care for the breastfeeding aids and pumps. </li><li>Ability to provide breastfeeding services for our WIC clientele with a series of breastfeeding materials to enhance the level of breastfeeding satisfaction. </li><li>Provide professional internal and external customer service in the clinic setting, outreach or other state, city or community set environments. </li><li>Follow up calls to nursing mothers who have a loaned breast pump from the WIC program. </li><li>Report and record all broken, damaged and non-retrievable pumps to the state agency or manufacture. </li><li>Train and maintain personal training as ICS Command and other first responder trainings. </li><li>Provide WIC approved materials to promote breastfeeding benefits for the mothers and babies in our community. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of directly related experience </li><li>Candidates receiving WIC or have received WIC in the past highly preferred </li><li>Have successfully breastfed or expressed breast milk for at least one baby or have supported their spouse/partner to successfully breastfeed or to receive expressed breast milk. </li><li>Must be able to take and pass ICS 100 and 200 Certifications within one (1) year of hire. </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees. The City will match employee contributions 2 to 1 during retirement. </li><li>Medical/dental/vision/life coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. </li><li>Vacation - 88+ hours per year </li><li>Personal leave - 40 hours per year </li><li>Sick leave - 96 hours per year </li><li>Voluntary 457b deferred compensation plan </li><li>Seven (7) Holidays </li><li>Flexible Spending Account </li><li>City Employee Health & Wellness Clinic & City Employee Fitness Center </li><li>Learning & Development Academy </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement Programs </li><li>Employee Recognition Programs </li></ul> <p>Basis of Rating</p> <p>Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.</p> <p>Closing Statement</p> <p>Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.</p> <p>Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.</p> <p>In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.</p> <p>This position is classified as "Safety Sensitive".
