Each of us is a neighbor, a friend, a family member, and together, we are a trusted community health center.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Assists the dentists with providing dental care to the patients of Union Community care (UCC). Also responsible for maintaining the dental equipment, supplies, clinical area and ensuring OSHA compliance.</p> <p>SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES</p> <p>Patient Care</p> <ol> <li> <p>Welcomes and prepares patient to be treated by the dentist</p> </li><li> <p>Helps patient to feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment</p> </li><li> <p>Takes any prescribed radiographs (x-rays) for the dentists</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews health and dental histories with the patient</p> </li><li> <p>Takes patient's blood pressure</p> </li><li> <p>Places restorative material after dentist has prepared tooth (teeth)</p> </li><li> <p>Places sealants, polishes and applies fluoride varnish as directed by dentist</p> </li><li> <p>When necessary make notes in the dental chart (i.e. chief complaint and blood pressure readings)</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares operatory for procedure to be performed</p> </li><li> <p>Assists dentist in performing four-handed dentistry following established Policies and Protocols for each individual procedure</p> </li><li> <p>Places and removes rubber dams and matrices (Under Direct Supervision)</p> </li><li> <p>Places and contours amalgam, composite, and other restorative material (Under Direct Supervision)</p> </li><li> <p>Place dental sealants (Under Direct Supervision)</p> </li><li> <p>Apply fluoride treatments and polishing teeth (Under Direct Supervision)</p> </li><li> <p>Following the dental procedure, gives patient any necessary post-op instructions or home care instructions</p> </li><li> <p>Completes the patient visit by taking them to the check-out desk</p> </li></ol> <p>Operatory Maintenance</p> <ol start="17"> <li> <p>After every visit removes all disposable barriers and instruments</p> </li><li> <p>Uses proper pre-cleaning and disinfecting procedures to disinfectant all surfaces and supplies</p> </li><li> <p>Replaces all barriers in operatory and sets up instruments for the next patient</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains dental equipment and informs Dental PM about any necessary equipment repairs</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures dental supplies are stocked in proper areas (i.e. operatory and lab)</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Dental Laboratory </li></ul> <ol start="22"> <li> <p>Cleans and sterilizes dental equipment after every patient visit</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains sterilization equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Re-stocks and pulls supply tags for the dental order, gives supply tags to Dental PM 2</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains dental radiograph sensors and machine</p> </li><li> <p>Pours impressions</p> </li><li> <p>Tracks dental laboratory cases and contacts dental labs as needed for pick-up or other communications</p> </li></ol> <p>Miscellaneous Duties</p> <ol start="28"> <li> <p>Participates in any meetings, seminars, or training sessions as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists as an interpreter for dental providers as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Assists front desk in times of under-staffing</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other work-related duties as assigned</p> </li></ol> <p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>EFDA accreditation and licensed </li><li>License recertification every two years </li><li>Radiology certification; recertified every four years </li><li>CPR certified; recertified every two years </li><li>Child abuse clearance; re-checked every two years </li><li>Attends fraud, waste, abuse and cultural competency classes every year </li><li>Knowledge and familiarity with dental and medical terminology </li><li>English proficiency required </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>In order to fulfill the requirements of this position, duties 1-31 are considered essential functions of the job.</p> <p>ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT</p> <p>This position is required to participate in mandatory all staff meetings, team meetings and trainings.</p>
