<p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Boiler and equipment must be able to manipulate and have knowledge of entire steam plant </li><li>Operation of centrifugal pumps and motors. Must be able to understand pumps operation and application </li><li>Operation of air compressors and air dryer. Must know operating procedures and parameters of air equipment </li><li>Operation of water softeners and understand how they function. Must be able to chemically test water for hardness </li><li>Chemistry of boiler water and feed water. Must know required chemical parameter and how to maintain the proper levels </li><li>Know emergency procedures for various problems that occur with steam plant, major steam leaks, low water and firing of boilers </li><li>Operation of well and water systems </li><li>Must know location of wells and how to manipulate system in its various modes </li><li>Painting and housekeeping </li><li>Check and test Geneva plant eye washes and safety showers and make corrections as outlined in program </li><li>Check fire extinguishers following established schedule </li><li>Maintain planned maintenance schedules on boiler room equipment check and inspect fire extinguishers at Geneva and Portland monthly and make corrections as required by program outline </li><li>Check all ladders and report all dangers </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Good work history </li><li>Work experience background in running equipment </li><li>Read water chemistry </li><li>Records and files on fire extinguishers </li><li>Records and files on boiler, water and air equipment </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Steam plant operation and theory of steam formation </li><li>Must know the theory of fuel combustion </li><li>Must know basic water chemistry and effects on boilers </li><li>Must understand heat transfer properties </li><li>Basic electrical knowledge </li><li>Must be literate in English and possess basic mathematics skills </li><li>On the job training of Water systems, Compressors operation, Steam plant operation, and how to perform chemical test.
