<p>General Description:</p> <p>The Summer Camp Director is responsible for the overall supervision and management of a programming site, its staff and its participants. This includes:</p> <ul> <li>monitoring staff performance, </li><li>enforcing rules and maintaining a safe environment, </li><li>planning and organizing activities, and </li><li>managing administrative duties </li></ul> <p>Principle Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Available for the entirety of Summer Camp 6/22/26 - 8/14/26, which includes training. This position also requires pre-camp meetings and extensive planning through the spring and early summer. </li><li>Attends Epi Pen, DCF Mandated Reporter and Medication & Administering Certification trainings as well as all scheduled staff meetings. </li><li>Supervises program staff ensuring that they are conducting activities that are fun and safe for program participants. </li><li>Enforces department rules and policies for the benefit of all participants. </li><li>Manages parent complaints and concerns in a professional, empathetic manner reinforcing our commitment to customer service. </li><li>Plans and implements daily activities in conjunction with program specialists to provide organization and structure to the program. </li><li>Coordinates the daily inventory of program supplies, inspecting for shortages or damages, and report results to Program Coordinator for replenishment or repair. </li><li>Coordinates the inspection of site areas including bathrooms, parking lots, fields and other areas for hazardous conditions, cleanliness, or suspicious activities and handles all emergencies. </li><li>Schedules staff in accordance with program attendance and lunch breaks. </li><li>Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude to demonstrate the importance of customer service. </li><li>Keeps accurate records of attendance, emergencies and behavior issues for all participants for follow up and documentation. </li><li>Provides written reports of accidents or incidents immediately to the Program Coordinator/Assistant Program Coordinator. </li><li>Conducts and attends scheduled staff training and meetings. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Conditions and Equipment: Requires some heavy lifting, working outdoors, sneakers and/or safe footwear always required. Staff shirt must be worn on all days at camp.</p> <p>Qualifications/Specifications:</p> <ul> <li>CPR/First Aid/AED certified. </li><li>Must be able to give effective directions and supervision of staff. </li><li>Must have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. </li><li>Must demonstrate good decision-making abilities, especially in emergency situations. </li><li>Must have a positive personality and the ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity and success. </li><li>Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with both children and adults in a mature manner. </li><li>Must be sensitive to the needs of children and have knowledge of their limitations. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred. 3 years relevant experience can substitute for degree. </li><li>Must be 18 years or older. </li></ul> <p>AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER</p> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
