This role involves facilitating patient involvement in treatment, conducting individual, group, and family counseling, and ensuring safe, effective discharge planning.</p> <p>If you are committed to supporting vulnerable populations and delivering evidence-based care, we invite you to apply!</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The Counselor is responsible for:</p> <p>Facilitating patient participation in treatment and education within the milieu</p> <p>Conducting individual, group, and family counseling sessions</p> <p>Performing utilization review and discharge planning functions</p> <p>Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure timely, safe, and resourceful patient care</p> <p>Interpreting and communicating complex patient and family needs, modeling caring practices to team members</p> <p>Assessing psychosocial risk factors through evaluation of prior functioning, support systems, and reactions to illness</p> <p>Counseling patients and families on emotional, social, and financial impacts of illness or disability</p> <p>Mobilizing community and family resources to meet patient needs</p> <p>Providing mental health assessments by physician referral</p> <p>Supporting complex discharge planning and crisis intervention</p> <p>Serving as the point person for cases involving child abuse/neglect, elder abuse, domestic violence, and institutional abuse</p> <p>Acting as liaison with child and adult protective services (APS/CPS) and community agencies</p> <p>Providing intervention in guardianship, foster care, adoption, and mental health placements</p> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <p>Education: Master's Degree in a mental health field such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related discipline from an accredited institution</p> <p>Licensure: Current Indiana license as an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAC, or HSPP required</p> <p>Experience: 3-5 years in health care, mental health, or community-based settings</p> <p>Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Crisis Intervention certification within 90 days of hire </li><li>BLS certification within 30 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Knowledge & Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Evidence-Based Practices (CBT, MI, DBT) </li><li>Psychosocial assessment, therapeutic counseling, and crisis intervention techniques </li><li>Legal mandates for child and adult protective services </li><li>Principles of growth and development across the lifespan </li><li>Crisis de-escalation techniques and creating a safe environment </li><li>Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) </li><li>Strong relationship-building skills with community, law enforcement, schools, and other agencies </li></ul> <p>Why Join IU Health?</p> <p>Be part of a collaborative, supportive team committed to delivering high-quality behavioral health care.
