<p>A fabrication technician position working hands-on with precision glass components used in high-speed communication systems. The role requires wedging, grinding, and polishing glass optics to exact specifications.</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons. </li><li>Inspect and prepare raw optical wafers </li><li>Verify material specifications and cleanliness before processing optical glass </li><li>Operate precision grinding equipment to thin wafers to required tolerances. </li><li>Select appropriate grinding compounds, pads, and tooling based on material type </li><li>Perform fine polishing to achieve required surface finish and flatness </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Reliable and Accountable </li><li>Strong sense of ownership </li><li>Quality first mindset </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Experience with networked PC based computer systems. </li><li>Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Minium of 2 years working in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the Telecom Industry. </li><li>Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons. </li><li>Strong ability to work independently and manage priorities in a production environment. </li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>This role is 100% onsite </li><li>Highly repetitive working conditions </li><li>Swing shift 1:00pm - 9:30pm PST shift deferential applies (Training for this position will occur on dayshift until fully trained) </li><li>Due to the use of polishing compounds and loose abrasive compounds this job involves a moderately messy work environment. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>On occasion be able to lift 40lbs. </li><li>Long periods of standing/walk </li></ul> <p>Safety Requirements</p> <ul> <li>All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
