<p>180 days/year</p> <p>7.00 hours/day</p> <p>Duties/Requirements:</p> <p>To improve the achievement of priority students in the Migrant and Bilingual programs through targeted support and check-ins, communication with parents and teachers, and academic intervention.</p> <ul> <li>Work under the direction of the EL Specialist or other certificated staff to provide specialized supplemental intervention to priority bilingual and migrant students. </li><li>Coordinate with program-funded staff to delivery services. </li><li>Works well with students who are in poverty and low-achieving. </li><li>Works to eliminate barriers to academic achievement, including participation in extended day activities. </li><li>Translate for staff and students. </li><li>Assist in maintaining open communication between families and schools, building mutual respect and trust. </li><li>Facilitate communication between families and the school by providing Spanish interpretation and translation when needed. </li><li>Engage in frequent communication with student progress. </li><li>Have high expectations for achievement of students. </li><li>Be willing and able to teach small groups of students as instructed by the teacher. </li><li>Perform various other duties including supervision and escorting students between classes when necessary. </li><li>Possess ability to anticipate teacher and/or student needs, and work independently in meeting those needs. </li><li>Display a level of confidence and authority to students. </li><li>Display professional behavior at all times. </li><li>Must possess flexibility in assignment, changing gears at a moment's notice. </li><li>Ability to handle conflict. </li><li>Excellent attendance and punctuality. </li><li>Other duties as assign </li><li>Attend in-service trainings and meetings as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma required; Bachelor's preferred </li><li>Fluent in Spanish and English; clear English writing skills required </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, community, and staff. </li><li>Demonstrated skill for problem solving through teamwork </li><li>Patient, flexible, self-motivated, organized, positive. </li><li>Demonstrated skill for successfully working with a wide variety of children and adults </li><li>Culturally sensitive to Hispanic families </li><li>Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word). </li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings as necessary. </li><li>Excellent attendance and punctuality </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage schedule, projects and priorities with limited daily supervision. </li><li>References that indicate a high level of professionalism, reliability and devotion to educating all students </li><li>Excellent attendance required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to regularly walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull. </li><li>Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. </li></ul> <p>Benefits: Those assocatied with Eastmont Paraeducator Association</p> <p>Eastmont School District does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
