The Employee Benefits and Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and administering employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance, and enhancing the overall employee experience. Key Responsibilities: Benefits Counseling and Administration: • Advise and assist staff on employee benefits matters, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs. • Conduct workshops and orientations for new employees, providing comprehensive information on available benefits. • Administer specific benefits such as COBRA packages, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. • Serve as a liaison to insurance carriers, retirement systems (e.g., TRS, NYCERS, TIAA), welfare funds, and the University Benefits office to facilitate seamless benefits processing. • Coordinate benefits processing in payroll systems and other university platforms, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Data Management and Reporting: • Prepare and analyze reports for college administration to inform decision-making and policy development. • Assist in updating materials and web pages related to employee benefits, ensuring information is current and accessible. • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in compliance with university policies and legal requirements. Daily Operations: • Oversee the tuition waiver process, ensuring eligible employees receive appropriate benefits. • Manage new hire enrollments and qualifying life event changes, following up with employees to complete the enrollment process. • Handle payroll entries related to health benefits and pension contributions, including processing deductions in PayServ for TRS, TIAA, and NYCERS. • Administer adjunct health benefits enrollment and conduct adjunct recertification each semester. • Manage the benefits inbox, ensuring timely responses to employee inquiries. • Coordinate COBRA logistics, including preparation of necessary forms and distribution of COBRA packages. • Prepare the PSC CUNY monthly report and update health vendors with employee address and name changes. • Oversee payroll processes for transit and Supplemental Retirement Annuity (SRA) benefits, responding to related inquiries. Additional Information: The Employee Benefits and Services Coordinator may supervise support staff and is expected to stay informed about changes in benefits regulations and university policies to ensure compliance and optimal employee support. Participation in professional development opportunities is encouraged to enhance skills and knowledge in benefits administration. This role is integral to fostering a supportive and informed environment for Baruch College employees, contributing to their overall satisfaction and well-being. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree required. Preferred Qualifications: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to interpret regulations and effectively communicate this information to employees. • Capacity to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality. • Detail-oriented and organized with strong customer service skills.
