Efficiently manage personnel, equipment and resources in order to support first time quality and on time delivery. Support continuous improvement efforts by providing the required training and leadership. Karman Space & Defense brings to bear unparalleled production capabilities, unmatched engineering expertise, and unflinching analysis to render the impossible, possible.</p> <p>COMPENSATION & BENEFITS</p> <ul> <li>Medical, Dental, Vision </li><li>Company Paid Life Insurance </li><li>401(k) Retirement Savings Plan </li><li>Paid Time Off (PTO) </li><li>Paid Holidays </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement* </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Planning and organizing: Create schedules, assign tasks, and prioritize work to meet goals </li><li>Provide Resources: Ensure employees have the materials and equipment they need to succeed </li><li>Communicating: Relay information between management and employees, and communicate company goals </li><li>Training: Orient new employees and provide training and onboarding; establish and implement cross-training programs within the Production functions </li><li>Set training and capabilities goals for Machinist </li><li>Evaluating performance: Review work assignments and techniques, and provide feedback for improvement </li><li>Handling Issues: Handle both internal and external customer issues that might escalate, and assist with hiring and firing </li><li>Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance; train employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures </li><li>Setting Goals: Set performance goals that align with the company's plans and provide annual performance evaluations, includes reporting performance records and evaluations to Senior Leadership </li><li>Review and approve Employee timecards, overtime and requests for paid time off. </li><li>Continuous Improvement: Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements </li><li>Ensuring Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and company policies and procedures, including meal and rest breaks, safety guidelines and company standards </li><li>Submit reports on performance and progress while maintaining various KPI's </li><li>Monitor processes for efficiency and collaborate with other departments for optimization </li><li>Align individual performance expectations with organizational goals </li><li>Provide fair, constructive, and timely feedback towards performance expectations and goals. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>5+ years of machine shop experience working with CNC Mills, CNC lathes, and conventional mill and lathe machines. </li><li>3+ years of experience leading a team. </li><li>Experience troubleshooting manufacturing operations, including machining processes. </li><li>Strong leadership qualities and 2 years' experience managing schedules, workflow safety and personnel. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. </li><li>Well versed in GD&T and inspection procedures and processes. </li><li>Excellent leadership experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Composite experience is preferred. </li><li>Thorough understanding of machining equipment set-ups and practices. </li></ul> <p>ITAR REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, certain positions may require applicants to be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Learn more about the ITAR here. </li></ul> <p>TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional travel may be required</p> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Constant standing/walking/sitting for at least 8 hours. </li><li>Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. </li><li>Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less.
