<p>We are seeking a Project Management Department Leader/Senior Project Manager. The position will lead the Industrial Project Management Department by assigning Senior PMs, PMs and APMs to projects and pursuits based on capabilities and workload balance, provide oversight of adherence to established key performance indicators (KPIs) for the role and for projects, and provide and foster mentoring to the department. In addition, this role will serve as a Senior Project Manager approximately 20% of the time, including day-to-day client management, financial performance tracking, quality management and project team leadership. A portion of the candidate's time will include direct involvement in proposals and presentations by working with Project Executives for their assigned pursuits, making assignments for the department to support pursuits or through representing the market's overall project management capability in client presentations.</p> <p>The candidate will serve as the department lead and firm representative for the Industrial market for project management. The candidate will have experience managing projects of varying complexities, sizes and delivery models and will be able to concisely convey Gresham Smith's ability to lead clients through the feasibility, programming, planning, design and construction contract administration phases for large complex projects in a manner that secures the confidence of our existing and new clients.</p> <p>As the Project Management Department Leader, the successful candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate ability to manage diverse high performing teams </li><li>Demonstrated experience of being a strong Leader of Leaders </li><li>Plan and manage project management staffing assignments for senior project managers, project managers and assistant project managers and be accountable for staff utilization, profitability, project management delivery, quality, and schedule conformance for all Industrial projects </li><li>Recruit, develop, manage, and mentor project management staff, including compensation review, development planning and regular review of goals and development progress </li><li>Assist with preparation of project proposals, marketing presentations, and other business development functions </li><li>Assist with the preparation of the yearly business plan </li><li>Conduct project management reviews - checking for KPI compliance, contract requirements, risk management, safety, quality , and sustainability plans; evaluating staffing; and reviewing financial and schedule status and provide summaries to the MVP </li><li>Hold project reviews that allow for corrective action and improved project outcomes </li><li>Demonstrate teamwork, collaboration and servant leadership </li><li>Have a mindset of proactivity with ability to multi-task and bring initiatives, actions and plans to successful closure </li><li>Verify that all Quality Assurance requirements are incorporated into our project plans, and that all Quality Control activities are carried out in a timely manner </li><li>Partner with the Market Vice President (MVP) in setting market-wide goals for project management, establish a training program for the project management department </li><li>Identify and implement best practices for project management in the industrial market while adhering to firmwide project management standards </li><li>Understand complex contracting strategies, delivery methods and teaming strategies with the ability to review contracts and coordination with risk management, verify contracts are being signed and projects are being delivered and invoiced per contract requirements </li><li>Demonstrate ability to have crucial conversations with leadership, clients and staff </li><li>Assist PMs and MVP with developing recovery plans as needed for challenged projects </li><li>Assist the MVP with understanding the risk profile for projects in the market </li><li>Assist the MVP with understanding of deferred and accrued balances by project </li><li>Assist MVP and market analyst with Revenue Projections </li><li>Partner with the market analyst on PM data evaluation needed by the PM, MVP or EVP and provide suggestions for market and firmwide improvements </li><li>Perform other duties as required </li></ul> <p>As the Sr. Project Manager, the successful candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Provide leadership and management for the execution of Industrial and Manufacturing projects </li><li>Demonstrate Exceptional & Consistent Quality evidenced by project deliverables achieving quality standards and by following the firmwide approach outlined by Project Delivery Excellence </li><li>Support assigned pursuits, client management, project scope development, project planning, organizing, change management, inter-discipline coordination, production coordination, team leadership, financial management, project quality control and delivery </li><li>Maintain healthy client relationships and possess solid operational insight for driving large, complex projects and executing deliverables </li><li>Understand project goals and clearly communicate them to project teams to ensure client expectations are consistently achieved </li><li>Lead project staff, prepare work schedules and assign specific duties </li><li>Oversee the production of plans and specifications for design projects for industrial and manufacturing facilities for multi discipline projects </li><li>Although not a technical producer, be recognized as a credible leader with strong technical experience related to the support of product manufacturing </li><li>Maintain project financial control including change management, monitoring of earned value and estimates to complete with ability to develop recovery plans if/when needed to produce profitable projects where our staff and clients have a positive experience </li><li>Identification and leadership in controlling scope and managing change </li><li>Performs other duties as required </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering discipline and 15 years of job-related experience with a consulting firm for Industrial/Manufacturing/Process projects including but not limited to the following industries: food and beverage, battery manufacturing, energy storage, automotive, data centers, metals, etc. </li><li>AIA or P.E. licensure is required. </li><li>Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint reporting is required </li><li>Must be exceptional in written and oral communication, with the ability to lead, develop and deliver highly persuasive presentations that build client and staff confidence and result in securing favorable design contracts with positive outcomes for our clients and our people. </li></ul> <p>Benefits Based On Hourly Schedule: Medical Insurance, Health Savings Account, Health Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k)/Roth Retirement Plans, Paid Holiday, and Free Parking.</p> <p>Gresham Smith is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate.
