We build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the College by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance to all and maintain an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.</p> <p>About MassArt MFA Fine Arts Low-Residency:</p> <p>MassArt's MFA Fine Arts Low Residency program (MFA-LR) is a versatile, 60-credit MFA ideal for working artists and educators who thrive in a cross-disciplinary, collaborative environment.</p> <p>Students earn their degree over two academic years of Fall and Spring semesters which include remote coursework, one-on-one studio mentorship, and electives, which may be taken either online or on campus. Three intensive on-campus summer residencies bookend and divide the two academic years, with the final residency culminating in a public thesis exhibition.</p> <p>Students who complete the MFA-LR are expected to be able to demonstrate the program learning outcomes, found here.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) is seeking an adjunct professor to join our Master of Fine Arts Low-Residency program for the Fall 2025 semester. The successful candidate will teach Visual and Critical Studies I (VCS 1), please see the course description below. This course is held online, synchronously, on Mondays 6:00-9:00pm ET and typically with 7-10 students. This is a part-time, contract position.</p> <p>Course description:</p> <p>Students in Visual and Critical Studies 1, examine their studio practice in the context of contemporary art, while also locating art historical and conceptual precedents. Viewing and responding to a diverse range of artistic practices and strategies, as a cohort, is designed to facilitate knowledge of the range of approaches and interpretations that are available to the 21st century artist. Class discussions are designed to contextualize the studio work in terms of history, theory, and/or social and global issues. As the Visual and Critical Studies course series progresses, students increasingly engage in independent research and writing, focusing on the areas of inquiry, and their writing voice, that best inform their studio practice. In this first course, students are introduced to a wide range of writing forms and engage in experimental writing exercises.</p> <p>Visual Critical Studies I is a 3-credit course, required for all MFA Fine Arts Low-Residency Students in their first fall semester.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct course Visual Critical Studies 1 in accordance with the course description. </li><li>Attention to building community in the classroom as a starting point for all course work. </li><li>Skilled in inclusive teaching and learning for a diverse student population. </li><li>Ability to teach to a classroom of students with a variety of interests and levels by distilling complex concepts into accessible and scaffolded projects </li><li>Adherence to department and college policies and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Adjuncts for the Graduate Department are paid according to their rank (Visiting Instructor, Senior Instructor, Visiting Professor etc.), which is determined after reviewing their application materials.</p> <p>For 3 credits: $4823.29-5566.11. Bargaining Unit: Division of Graduate and Continuing Education.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>MA, MFA, or PhD in studio arts, art history, writing, critical theory/philosophy or related fields. </li><li>Teaching experience at the college level in studio arts, art history, art related theory, or other related fields for a minimum of one year. </li><li>A creative and/or scholarly practice that demonstrates currency in the field. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Please note MassArt:</p> <ul> <li>Does not support employment-based visa sponsorship or non-student exchange visitor visa sponsorship. </li><li>Is not an E-Verify institution. </li></ul> <p>Selected candidates must be eligible to work in the US at the time of employment, complete all onboarding tasks including a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background review and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US by completing the Form 19, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.</p> <p>You are required to show proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of the start of your employment.
