<p>Director of Grants and Professional Development</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>The Director of Grants and Professional Development develops a focused grant acquisition agenda to seek grant opportunities (federal, state, local, and other) and strengthens district professional development to support district priorities and initiatives to include efforts that support the recruitment, hiring, and retention of staff.</p> <p>Working Time:</p> <p>The Director of Professional Learning and Grants will be required to work 226 days, exclusive of holidays. The work day will be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>The base salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Everett Teachers Association Unit B.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>A Master's degree from an accredited institution. </li><li>A graduate or an undergraduate major in education. </li><li>Five years or more of teaching experience. </li><li>Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification for Supervisor/Director and a related license in education </li><li>Must possess the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrator's Endorsement </li><li>Excellent presentation skills and experience providing professional development to various groups of school district personnel </li><li>Exemplary analytical skills and a creative problem solver </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>EPS respects linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring value to the district's culture and diversity. </li><li>Familiarity with an urban school district. </li><li>Previous leadership experience in leading a world language department. </li><li>Experience working with students with disabilities and multilingual learners. </li><li>Experience working and managing grants. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Manage the induction and mentoring of new teachers and other staff, including the development of curriculum, identifying mentors, and monitoring the effectiveness of the program. </li><li>Coordinate new staff orientation and leadership retreat in collaboration with school and district leaders. </li><li>Plan the district's Professional Development coursebook for teachers and staff in conjunction with the Professional Development committee. </li><li>Form relationships with consultants and professional development providers and communicate regarding rosters, materials, and teacher feedback. </li><li>To support the district's goals, facilitate instructional professional development for all staff, including school and district leaders. </li><li>Facilitate professional development and coaching that supports alignment of curriculum to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and implementation of HQIM. </li><li>Coordinate all programs and department in-service activities that support the district's mission and aim to provide continuous improvement. </li><li>Assist district and school personnel in planning professional development and curriculum that links and aligns in-service activities to student and instructional personnel needs as determined by school improvement plans, annual school reports, student performance data, and performance appraisal data of teachers. </li><li>Conduct and summarize needs assessments and satisfaction surveys to determine in-service needs for all School District employees. </li><li>Monitor teacher licensure and certification, providing support for staff as needed. </li><li>Collaborate with colleges and universities to place student teachers, interns, and other practicum students. </li><li>Coordinate efforts to create teacher pipeline programs with local colleges and universities. </li><li>Serve as contact for partnerships with colleges and universities for teacher and staff development. </li><li>Interact with parents, outside agencies, businesses, and the community to enhance understanding of District initiatives and priorities and to elicit support and assistance. </li><li>Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of professional development activities. </li><li>Promote and support professional growth for self and others. </li><li>Develop annual goals and objectives for professional development consistent with and in support of District goals and priorities. </li><li>Maintain a network of peer contacts through professional organizations. </li><li>Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep abreast of current practices and programs. </li><li>Facilitate and support staff training and prepare training rooms. </li><li>Develop or assist in developing the professional learning budgets and monitor budget implementation. </li><li>Supervise the District database of in-service records for all personnel. </li><li>Assist in interpreting the district's programs, philosophy, and policies to staff, students, and the community. </li><li>Research grant opportunities to develop additional funding resources for current and proposed services, programs, and administrative operations, as well as serve as a clearinghouse for potential grant funding opportunities. </li><li>Conduct grant searches to identify competitive local, state, federal, and private funding sources. </li><li>Develop grant applications according to the Request for Proposal and funder requirements. </li><li>Collaborate with external agencies, community individuals, and community groups that may participate in partnership grant applications. </li><li>Provide technical assistance to district personnel in seeking funding opportunities and proposal development. </li><li>Plan, develop, and deliver training in grant-seeking for district personnel. </li><li>Lead and manage work groups in the development of grant proposals. </li><li>Research best practices and evidence-based programs to support the development of grant program designs. </li><li>Review grant proposals developed by internal or external stakeholders and provide feedback, as appropriate. </li><li>Provide oral and written reports on grant acquisition efforts. </li><li>Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and recommend appropriate employment action. Prepares or oversees the preparation of all required reports and maintains appropriate records. </li><li>Represent the District consistently positively and professionally.
