The successful candidate will provide supervision of assigned personnel in the underground construction of all major new, replacement and upgraded electric outside plant facilities, including poles and overhead conductors and installation of underground cable. Achieve the desired results of the Outside Plant Construction organization through the use of PSEG values and tools, sound management practices and skills and a total commitment to teamwork. Oversee the activities of all Outside Plant Construction associates, including contractors in order to ensure safe and efficient construction of outside plant facilities. Supervise the construction of all outside plant electric distribution facilities.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Supervise assigned personnel in the construction, maintenance and operation of associated overhead or underground facilities. </li><li>Provide development and training to personnel in work practices and use of tools and equipment. </li><li>Promote safety principles and procedures. </li><li>Coach, counsel and recognize associates, as required, and facilitate first step grievance meetingsin accordance with Positive Discipline. </li><li>Conduct fact-finding meetings, as required. </li><li>Conduct performance appraisal reviews with bargaining unit associates. </li><li>Assist in the identification and recognition of unusual, unsafe or inappropriate work conditions andtake necessary corrective action. </li><li>Assign and direct work to accomplish the desired results in a safe, efficient and expeditious manner. </li><li>Interface with Division Operations to ensure top quartile system reliability. </li><li>Maintain effective working relationships across departments to achieve Safe and Reliable operationof the Electric Grid. </li><li>Accept overtime, call out and on-call assignments and provide support of work activities andresponse to emergencies during and outside of normal working hours, including emergencyresponse and restoration for major system and weather events within and outside of the division,including acceptance of Mutual Aid obligations. </li><li>Safety sensitive position / D.O.T. testing required. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <p>High school graduate or GED.</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the construction, operation and maintenance ofunderground outside plant facilities or overhead electric distribution facilities. </li><li>Working knowledge of the Company / Union Agreement and bargaining unit workforce, includingknowledge of Positive Discipline process and Mutual Gains Bargaining. </li><li>Ability to read and understand schematics and 1-line diagrams. </li><li>As the job requires driving to Company locations and off-site assignments and events, mustpossess a valid U.S. driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driving history. </li><li>Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST) unless presently an internal employee and directly supervising (i.e., responsible for performance review) union, operating department/represented associates for a minimum of 12 continuous months. For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken. Acceptable test results exceeding the two-year period (for those applicants not presently and directly supervising represented associates) cannot be used in bidding on or applying for a first line supervisory position for which the test was validated. </li></ul> <p>Preferred / Desired Skills:</p> <ul> <li>BS Degree in Engineering. </li><li>Mechanically inclined aptitude. </li><li>Ability to assist with troubleshooting, identifying and analyzing abnormal outside plant facilityconditions. </li><li>Ability to read and understand one-line circuit prints and detail prints. </li><li>Knowledge of computer applications, including DWMS. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Years of Experience</p> <p>5 years of experience</p> <p>Education</p> <p>High School</p> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>Certain positions at the Company may require you to have access to Part 810-Controlled Information.
