<p>$72,155.20 - $77,688.00 Annually</p> <ul> <li>Starting Salary: $72,155.20 </li><li>After Six Months of Successful Employment: $74,755.20 </li><li>After One Year of Successful Employment: $77,688.00 </li><li>Maximum salary is achieved after one successful year of employment. </li></ul> <p>NOTE:  Annual salary adjustments may also occur, based on collective bargaining agreements.</p> <p>An employee in this classification in the Public Service Division of the Department of Public Works performs duties related to all phases of the repair and preventative maintenance of City facilities.  The Building Mechanic II is responsible for performing assignments at the professional level, in accordance with State of Michigan, and City of Livonia building codes. Examples include:</p> <ul> <li>Work as a crew leader, supervising and directing employees as assigned </li><li>Complete repairs or renovations of City facilities </li><li>Oversee all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance and repair </li><li>Maintain, schedule, and supervise facility maintenance and custodial needs </li><li>Perform preventative and general maintenance of systems including filter replacements, pumps, etc. </li><li>Perform routine facility inspections, and custodial duties as required </li><li>Assist in the coordination or the set up and take down of equipment and furnishings for classes, programs, facility rentals and special events </li><li>Monitor automated systems </li><li>Maintain and make repairs to electrical, phone, and data systems </li><li>Maintain and make repairs to plumbing fixtures, lock & hardware </li><li>Perform interior painting, repair walls, ceilings, and floors </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>By the closing date of this announcement applicants must:</p> <ul> <li>Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States and </li><li>Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and </li><li>Possess, and maintain a State of Michigan Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC Journeyman, or Master License; and </li><li>Have five (5) years full-time paid experience in the electrical trade; and </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving record; and </li><li>Possess or be eligible for a Commercial Driver's License-Group A; and </li><li>Possess or be eligible for a valid Industrial Truck Driving Permit for the operation of a forklift </li></ul> <p>NOTE:  Candidates are required to submit an original high school diploma or GED certificate and original state certifications/licenses by the date of the interview.</p> <p>PARTS OF EXAMINATION AND WEIGHTS</p> <p>Written Test - 50% *               Interview -50%</p> <p>NOTE:  A maximum of 10 qualified applicants with the highest passing score on the Written Test will be invited to the Interview part of the examination.
