<p>HUBER HEIGHTS CITY SCHOOLS</p> <p>CLASSIFIED POSITION VACANCIES</p> <p>2024-2025</p> <p>CLASSIFICATION: Bus Maintenance</p> <p>LOCATION: Transportation</p> <p>SALARY RANGE: $25.32 - $28.03 Per Hour*</p> <p>LENGTH OF WORK DAY: 8 Hours Per Day</p> <p>LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 12 Months</p> <p>DATE OF POSTING: May 2, 2025</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <ul> <li>$3.50 per hour pay increase with a Master ASE certification </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent. </li><li>Possess a current Class B CDL license with air brake, school bus, and passenger endorsements. </li><li>A proficiency in repair and maintenance of buses, trucks, and other automotive equipment. </li><li>Two years of mechanic experience preferred. </li><li>An ability to communicate in a courteous manner. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Transportation Supervisor</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>To keep the district's vehicle fleet in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Performs the diagnosis and repair of district vehicular equipment. </li><li>Assists in maintenance of a current inventory of supplies and equipment. </li><li>Maintains buses to facilitate successful completion of all state Highway Patrol inspections. </li><li>Assists drivers with all components associated with preventative checks and maintenance prior to leaving on their bus routes. </li><li>Record daily gas pump reading each morning. </li><li>Dips and records gas storage tank readings as directed by Supervisor. </li><li>Makes daily inspection of work orders to establish priorities. </li><li>Effectively prioritizes daily workload to maximize department efficiency. </li><li>Exchange/retrieve video hardware/equipment from buses as directed by Supervisor. </li><li>Communicates with the Transportation Supervisor of needed items, materials and supplies. </li><li>Assists Transportation Supervisor in establishing an efficient and effective system of routine automotive maintenance and preventive care. </li><li>Maintains records of all maintenance and repair work. </li><li>Performs regular/monthly safety inspection. </li><li>Attends meetings as requested by the Transportation Supervisor, Director of Business Operation and/or the Superintendent. </li><li>Maintains high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work connected areas. </li><li>Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair and operation of equipment and machines [OSHA]. </li><li>Reports all conditions that present safety hazards on buses and other automotive equipment immediately to the Transportation Supervisor. </li><li>Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA]. </li><li>Assists with phones and radio communications as needed. </li><li>Ability to support department efforts to properly pre-treat, plow, and salt district parking lots as needed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor, Director of Business Operations and/or the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>CONDUCT:</p> <p>Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.</p> <p>Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Effectively follow written and oral directions of supervisory personnel.</p> <p>TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:</p> <p>Ability to use technology resources as required by job responsibilities including, but not limited to, Windows workstations, the Microsoft Office software suite, email, web-based platforms, and proprietary transportation applications.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully the essential functions of the job.
