This hands-on role involves the development of test plans and procedures, execution of test events, issue investigation, requirements verification, and collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The engineer will also interface with end customers during formal testing and sell-off events.</p> <p>This position operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, onsite engineering environment.</p> <p>Primary Mission</p> <p>Execute software and hardware test activities, support integration, and ensure systems meet requirements through thorough, repeatable test planning and verification.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop test plans, test procedures, and automated test tools for multiple software and hardware programs </li><li>Perform hands-on testing of hardware and software components </li><li>Identify, isolate, and document defects; collaborate closely with development teams to resolve issues </li><li>Support hardware/software integration efforts in a Linux/VxWorks environment </li><li>Track, verify, and validate system requirements </li><li>Interface with customers and stakeholders to support formal sell-off events, integration tests, and acceptance activities </li><li>Participate in issue resolution meetings, readiness reviews, and sprint activities </li><li>Document and report test results using standard test tracking tools </li><li>Support occasional travel for integration and test events </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM discipline</p> </li><li> <p>5-8 years of test or engineering experience (or MS + 3 years)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience executing tests in software environments, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Test documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Test result reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Use of test tracking tools</p> </li><li> <p>Experience testing systems built on Linux and/or VxWorks</p> </li><li> <p>Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration and debugging</p> </li><li> <p>Strong analytical and communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to perform periodic overnight travel as required</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with software development in C </li><li>Familiarity with embedded systems </li><li>Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence </li><li>Background in quality assurance or configuration management </li><li>Familiarity with test automation development and scripting </li></ul> <p>Success Indicators</p> <ul> <li>Successfully completes integration and system sell-off test events </li><li>Produces high-quality test plans, test procedures, and tools </li><li>Contributes to smoke testing, integration testing, and harnessed testing for HW/SW systems </li><li>Ensures all system acceptance deliverables are completed and accepted </li><li>Demonstrates clear communication and strong collaboration with engineering teams </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Culture</p> <ul> <li>Onsite, collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment </li><li>Close partnership with software developers, system engineers, and hardware teams </li><li>Opportunities to work hands-on with embedded systems and advanced technology </li></ul> <p>EEO Employer</p> <p>Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
