<p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Medical Director is a core faculty member in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. The Medical Director must be a board-certified and New York State licensed physician who is knowledgeable in current-practice medical standards. Additionally, the Medical Director must understand the role of physician assistants in delivery of health care. Following the Standards established by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), the Medical Director reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Primary responsibilities for this part-time position include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities and scope of practice for physician assistants </li><li>Advocate for the program within the medical and academic communities </li><li>Active participation in recruitment of clinical rotation sites throughout Upstate New York </li><li>Support the Program Director to ensure that both didactic and clinical instruction meet current practice standards </li></ul> <p>Additional responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Active participation in interview of applicants for admission to the Physician Assistant Program </li><li>Active participation in Promotions Committee </li><li>Assists in the development of effective remedial instruction relative to clinical deficiencies </li><li>Active role in participation in Physician Assistant orientation and graduation ceremonies </li><li>Active participation in comprehensive program review </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>NYS MD/DO License </li><li>Current New York State licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician </li><li>Certified by an ABMS or AOA approved specialty board </li><li>Clinical experience in rural medicine or primary care medicine preferred </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Work Days:</p> <p>Message to Applicants:</p> <p>Recruitment Office: Human Resources</p> <p>Executive Order:</p> <p>Pursuant to Executive Order 161, no State entity, as defined by the Executive Order, is permitted to ask, or mandate, in any form, that an applicant for employment provide his or her current compensation, or any prior compensation history, until such time as the applicant is extended a conditional offer of employment with compensation.
