Ranked 37 among national universities, Boston College has 923 full-time and 1,336 FTE faculty, 2,822 non-faculty employees, an operating budget of $1.4 billion, and an endowment in excess of $3.9 billion.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Full Time Assistant Director, Field Education is responsible for student placement development and agency recruitment. S/he manages and advises students in agency placements. S/he supervises assigned adjunct faculty who are student advisors. S/he provides a variety of administrative tasks to assist in the development and operations of the Field Placement Department. S/he assists the Assistant Dean, Field Education in the organization, development, and implementation of the Placement Management Process.</p> <p>SSW student body consists of 650 MSW students. Field Education Department is comprised of the Assistant Dean, Field Education, six Assistant Director, Field Education, and Field Education Program Assistant.</p> <p>Essential Functions include:</p> <p>Domestic and International Placement Management:</p> <ul> <li>Recruits agencies for placements </li><li>Identify potential agencies </li><li>Telephone contact to agencies </li><li>Complete a site visit </li><li>Complete agency evaluation paperwork </li><li>Input new agencies into Placement Data File </li><li>Support and monitor agencies </li><li>Collects and files advisor reports and placement meeting reports </li><li>Participates in Placement Management Meetings </li><li>Assists the field team in the placement of students </li><li>Participate in Placement Forum (orientation meeting) for Clinical Students </li><li>Review student applications </li><li>Interview assigned students </li><li>Write up Placement Interview Summary </li><li>Participate in weekly Placement Meetings </li><li>Communicate with agencies to set up student interviews </li><li>Follow up on student/agency interviews to confirm placement </li><li>Submit appropriate paperwork to establish placement assignment </li></ul> <p>Domestic and International Student Advising:</p> <ul> <li>Provides course and field advising to 15 students </li><li>Contacts students and agencies in September </li><li>Collects Learning Contracts in October </li><li>Meets with students monthly and as needed </li><li>Visits Agencies at least once each semester and additional times as needed </li><li>Reviews student performance each semester and submit grades </li><li>Attends monthly Faculty Advisor meetings </li><li>Participates in managing student problems as needed </li><li>Submits Student Professional Reports at the end of Spring Semester </li></ul> <p>Supervision of Student Advisors:</p> <ul> <li>Orients and train advisors </li><li>Provides support and consultation on a needed basis </li><li>Monitors performance of Student Advisors </li><li>Provides consultation to Student Advisors on placement problems </li><li>Participates in Placement Management Meetings when appropriate </li></ul> <p>Management of Summer Block Placement Program:</p> <ul> <li>Organizes the Summer Block placements and field seminar </li><li>Participates in Student Orientation </li><li>Participates in Summer Field Seminars </li><li>Serves as the Student Advisor to 8 to 15 students </li></ul> <p>Special Projects:</p> <ul> <li>Performs special projects as assigned by the Assistant Dean, Field Education </li></ul> <p>Resource and Referral:</p> <ul> <li>Provide program coverage one day/week to respond to student and agency request for help and information </li></ul> <p>Some local domestic and international travel required.</p> <p>Please include a cover letter with your application.</p> <p>Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $65,550 to $81,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Master of Social Work degree required </li><li>At least three years of professional experience required </li><li>Strong organizational and communications skills required </li><li>Experience with issues related to placement of students in agencies required </li><li>Proficiency with MS Office suite required </li><li>Familiarity with databases (Apex preferred) required </li><li>Ability to follow-through on tasks independently required </li><li>Ability to function as part of a team required </li><li>Some supervisory experience preferred </li><li>Ability to follow-through on tasks independently </li><li>Ability to function as part of a team </li><li>Some supervisory experience preferred </li></ul> <p>Closing Statement</p> <p>Boston College offers a broad and competitive range of benefits depending on your job classification eligibility:</p> <ul> <li>Tuition remission for Employees </li><li>Tuition remission for Spouses and Children who meet eligibility requirements </li><li>Generous Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance </li><li>Low-Cost Life Insurance </li><li>Eligibility for both University-Funded 401k and Employer-Sponsored 403b Retirement Plans </li><li>Paid Holidays Annually </li><li>Generous Sick and Vacation Pay </li><li>Additional benefits can be found on https://www.bc.edu/employeehandbook </li></ul> <p>Boston College conducts pre-employment background checks as part of the hiring process.</p> <p>Boston College is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected category, including disability and protected veteran status.
