<p>Collegiate Charter School of Lowell, a rapidly growing K-12 Charter School of 1200 students in Lowell, MA, is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and knowledgeable Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. This individual will play a key role in shaping the future of our basketball program by building a culture of excellence in academics, athletics, and community. In addition to coaching the High School Varsity Team, the perfect candidate will also have the unique opportunity to mentor and develop talented student-athletes across all grade levels-elementary, middle, and high school.</p> <p>The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for the overall vision, strategy and direction of the high school and middle school basketball program. A leader with strong integrity both on and off the court, the Head Coach will align the basketball program to reflect the mission of the school and its core values of: Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance and Excellence. The ideal candidate will excel at building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders inside and outside of the school community__including youth sports programs and community organizations in the Greater Lowell Area, AAU Basketball organizations, prep schools, and colleges.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level </li><li>Basketball playing experience preferably at the collegiate level, or at least High School Varsity level </li><li>In-depth knowledge and network of coaches in Greater Lowell Area, AAU, prep schools, and colleges </li><li>High-level competitiveness, character and integrity and the ability to motivate young people to strive for the same qualities </li><li>Proven ability to work effectively with staff, students and parents in a diverse community </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and supervisory skills and ability to work constructively to resolve conflicts </li><li>Good understanding of strength/conditioning and nutrition and ability to establish a sound program for strength/conditioning and injury prevention </li><li>Proven ability to communicate effectively with players, parents, media, school administration and greater community </li><li>Familiarity with MIAA rules, regulations, procedures, and policies </li><li>Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for all matters related to the basketball program including, but not limited to: player personnel, off-season conditioning, scheduling, fundraising, care/maintenance of equipment and uniforms along with supervision of players during practice, games, travel and other team functions </li><li>Have a passion for working with diverse student athletes and overcoming various challenges in an urban community, seeing these challenges more as strengths and opportunities </li><li>Exhibit enthusiasm and sincere interest in coaching and working with student-athletes while keeping in focus the character development of the young men of the basketball program and Collegiate's core values of Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, and Excellence </li><li>Experience and familiarity with the College recruiting process and AAU networks/teams to help promote and develop talent and potential college athletes </li><li>Establish support and publicity for the program and actively build relationships within the greater Lowell basketball community and youth coaches </li><li>Organize, plan, and schedule a yearlong program of skill and strength development for Collegiate student-athletes </li><li>Work with coaches of Collegiate sports to facilitate and encourage multi-sport athletes and collaborate to develop strong K-12 basketball and overall athletic opportunities year round </li><li>Recruit knowledgeable, principled coaching staff who will set the right example for the players both on and off the court </li><li>Ensure that the safety and welfare of the student-athletes is a top priority in the organization and implementation of practice and game situations </li><li>Honestly and constructively communicate with individual players and the team about goals, performance, and progress </li><li>Develop and maintain a highly competitive environment </li><li>Use sound, proven methods of coaching and display knowledge and innovation as the game of basketball evolves </li><li>Maintain an accurate roster and support the Athletic Department and School Administrators regarding the academic and athletic eligibility of student-athletes </li><li>Communicate and work with athletic trainer and parents involving student-athletes injuries </li><li>Monitor the safety conditions of the gym or area in which assigned team is conducting workouts, practices, or games </li><li>Develop and oversee the tryout/evaluation process for the high school and middle school programs </li><li>Maintain accurate statistics, records, and results of the season </li><li>Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of these standards by individual athletes </li><li>Work closely with the Athletic Department in scheduling games and practices </li><li>Prepare and adhere to approved budget </li><li>Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies and update it after every season </li><li>Inform student-athletes and families of all school-related policies and team rules </li><li>Ensure compliance with building athletic eligibility policies and work with student-athletes on academic progress </li><li>Work to actively promote current student-athletes to collegiate athletic opportunities </li><li>Ensure supervision for all games, practices, and organized team activities </li></ul> <p>Administrative Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate with assistant coaches in regard to roles, duties, and expectations </li><li>Attend MIAA rules interpretation and all-conference meetings </li><li>Work with the Athletic Director to enhance the student-athlete experience and raise the money necessary for the program </li><li>Follow proper budget and purchase order procedures </li><li>Maintain and update team and individual records </li><li>Supervise practice area and locker room when student-athletes are present to ensure safe and proper conditions </li><li>Maintain cooperative and professional relations with the media regarding team information, statistics, and interviews </li><li>Engage in professional development activities designed to improve coaching skills, basketball strategies, and basketball techniques </li><li>Promote and monitor effective individual and team conduct at practice, during games, and in our school and community to uphold the School's positive reputation and image </li><li>Publicize team and individual accomplishments to the school's Communications Department </li><li>Cooperate with requests for information from the Athletic office on time </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: $12,000-24,000:</p> <ul> <li>(Basketball coaching: $6-12,000) </li><li>(School Strength/ Conditioning Coach : $6,000-12,000) </li></ul>
