<p>TITLE: Family and Consumer Sciences</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Proper certification and licensing as required by law. </li><li>Degree(s) and area of major study as required by law. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: The Building-Level Principal and the Superintendent</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil an awareness of the importance of a good home environment as a basis for satisfactory home and family living.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Teaches content and skills in foods and nutrition utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities. </li><li>Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. </li><li>Organizes class activities so that preparation, instruction or laboratory work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted class time. </li><li>Demonstrates skill techniques in home economics and prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning. </li><li>Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. . </li><li>Instructs pupils in use, care, and safe operation of household equipment and appliances. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment as required. </li><li>Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the laboratory-type classroom. </li><li>Evaluates each pupil's progress in concepts and skills of subject taught and contribution to a group project or goal. </li><li>Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids and equipment; maintains requited inventory records; purchases groceries and other supplies as authorized. </li><li>Encourages pupils to demonstrate learned techniques at home with their families. </li><li>Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress. </li><li>Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. </li><li>Supervises pupil in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. </li><li>Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. </li><li>Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. </li><li>Maintains current vocational information for pupils interested in professional careers and resource materials for those who plan to be homemakers. </li><li>Maintains professional competence through in service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities </li><li>Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. </li><li>Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent, and within local contract/policy, state, and federal regulations. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 184 days</p> <p>Salary established by Master Contractual Agreement.</p> <p>Work year established by the Board.</p>
