Office methods, procedures and equipment including filing systems, receptionist and telephone technique and letter and report writing. Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Ability to: Keyboard (type) at a rate of not less than 50 words per minute from legible copy. Take dictation and transcribe it accurately. Learn, interpret and apply administrative and department policies, laws and rules with good judgment. Compose correspondence independently. Perform clerical work of above average difficulty with accuracy and speed. Take responsibility and use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority. Carry out general directions independently. Deal effectively with a wide variety of situations requiring diplomacy, friendliness, poise and firmness. Maintain confidentiality of privileged information. Work under pressure, meet deadlines and establish priorities. Develop and maintain cooperatively relationships with those contacted during the course of work. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by courses in typing and office practice. Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible and varied secretarial and clerical experience.
