<p>Summary:</p> <p>Under the general direction of the Director of Finance</p> <p>manage accounting operations for Rhode Island Hospital (RIH) The Miriam</p> <p>Hospital (TMH) Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital (EPBH) and all related</p> <p>affiliates. Responsible for monthly consolidated financial statements and</p> <p>general ledgers for RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Interview hire and assign subordinate staff; provide</p> <p>guidance and counsel to subordinate staff; conduct periodic performance</p> <p>evaluations; recommend personnel actions; act as resource for staff; conduct</p> <p>periodic individual and/or group staff meetings; approve payroll; provide and</p> <p>maintain subordinate staff development plans; develop standards for subordinate</p> <p>staff performance; present monthly Brown University Health consolidated financial statements</p> <p>at management meeting.</p> <p>Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of accounting</p> <p>records of RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates. Review and approve</p> <p>general journal entries of significance.</p> <p>Responsible for timely and accurate submission of monthly</p> <p>RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates consolidated financial statements.</p> <p>Responsible for preparation of annual balance sheet and cash</p> <p>flow budget for RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates.</p> <p>Responsible for preparation of quarterly financial</p> <p>statements and narrative for The Obligated Group.</p> <p>Develop annual budget proposal for hospital administrative</p> <p>responsibility centers for review by Director of Finance.</p> <p>On a monthly basis monitor (and work with appropriate</p> <p>accounting staff to resolve) temporarily restricted fund (SPF) deficits for</p> <p>Rhode Island Hospital The Miriam Hospital and Emma Pendleton Bradley</p> <p>Hospital. For those SPFs reflecting no spending within the previous twelve</p> <p>months follow up with SPF managers to facilitate spending. Compare documented</p> <p>purpose restrictions to SPF permanent files. Approve SPF spending on a routine</p> <p>basis.</p> <p>Serve as consultant regarding RIH TMH EPBH and all related</p> <p>affiliates financial affairs. Participate in the development of Finance</p> <p>Department operating policies and procedures initiating modification proposals</p> <p>as needed.</p> <p>Participate in councils quality improvement teams and</p> <p>other such committees as required.</p> <p>Perform ongoing evaluation of procedures to improve work</p> <p>flow and reduce the costs of accounting operations.</p> <p>Maintain quality assurance safety environmental and</p> <p>infection control in accordance with established system policies procedures</p> <p>and objectives.</p> <p>Perform other related duties as required.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:</p> <p>Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.</p> <p>Level of knowledge of accounting practices equivalent to</p> <p>Certified Public Accountant (CPA).</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Minimum five years progressively more responsible general</p> <p>accounting experience including two years of supervisory responsibility.</p> <p>Experience in automated complex accounting environment</p> <p>required health care environment preferred.</p> <p>Broad experience with Microsoft Office applications and</p> <p>understanding of large automated database systems.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:</p> <p>Supervisory responsibility for up to ten full-time</p> <p>equivalent personnel.</p> <p>Supervision includes interviewing hiring scheduling</p> <p>training conducting performance appraisals and recommendation of personnel</p> <p>action.</p> <p>Brown University Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
