The purpose of a English/Reading/Language Arts teacher's job is to teach students how to read, write, problem solve, seek information, work cooperatively with others, and meet all Early Literacy Initiative curriculum objectives.</p> <p>Job Functions:</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ol> <li>Diagnoses, instructs, and evaluates specific students' needs and seeks assistance of classroom teachers or other specialists </li></ol> <p>as needed.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Plans and implements a program of instruction that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities within the Sweetwater County School District Early Literacy Initiative.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement curriculum objectives and goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Writes daily lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated to curriculum objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Determines program eligibility through diagnosis and evaluation of specific student needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors and assesses student progress and provides feedback on a regular basis to teachers, students, and parents/guardians.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates aims/objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner in clear, concise terms.</p> </li><li> <p>Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows the Early Literacy Initiative rules and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists administration in implementing all policies, regulations, and rules of Sweetwater County School District Number One.</p> </li><li> <p>Promotes and follows adopted Sweetwater County School District Number One philosophy, policies, and administrative procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, parents, students, and community in a positive manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Assumes legal responsibilities for supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.</p> </li><li> <p>Assumes individual responsibilities assigned by the principal/supervisor which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning of any professional assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by Early Literacy law, Sweetwater County School District Number One policy, and administrative regulation.</p> </li><li> <p>Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts oneself in a business-like and task-oriented manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Designs and implements parent involvement programs in accordance with Early Literacy Initiative guidelines.</p> </li></ol> <p>Other Functions:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Attends building staff meetings, Early Literacy meetings, and district meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Remains informed of new techniques and current research.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes reports in a timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Discusses student progress at parent conferences and requested meetings.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>This position could include Drama classes* </li><li>-EMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL DUTIES OF THIS JOB-- </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications:</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Mental Ability:</p> <p>Must possess broad knowledge of pedagogy and learning theory with expertise in area(s) of certification.</p> <p>Must possess knowledge of group dynamics and interpersonal skills.</p> <p>Must possess knowledge of psychological, emotional, educational, and behavioral development of children.</p> <p>Must possess classroom management skills which include discipline as well as record keeping and assessment ability.</p> <p>Must possess technological and computer skills.</p> <p>Must possess problem solving, flexibility, imagination, patience, reasoning, creativity, judgment, and analytical abilities.</p> <p>Education, License, Certification or Formal Training:</p> <p>Proper certification issued by the Wyoming Department of Education.</p> <p>A minimum of a bachelor's degree, awarded from an accredited college or university.</p> <p>Continue to pursue graduate level classes for professional growth.</p> <p>Equipment Used:</p> <ul> <li>Learning Management Systems (LMS) Usage - Ability to navigate and utilize digital learning platforms. </li><li>Classroom Technology Integration - Knowledge of interactive whiteboards, projectors, and student devices. </li><li>Online Assessment Tools - Experience creating and managing digital quizzes, tests, and evaluations. </li><li>Virtual and Hybrid Teaching - Proficiency in video conferencing and remote learning platforms. </li><li>Educational Data Analysis - Ability to interpret student performance data to guide instruction. </li><li>Digital Collaboration Tools - Experience using shared documents, discussion boards, and communication apps. </li><li>Basic Troubleshooting - Ability to resolve minor technical issues with classroom technology. </li><li>Assistive Technology - Understanding of tools that support diverse learning needs. </li><li>Cybersecurity and Digital Safety - Awareness of online privacy, security risks, and digital citizenship. </li><li>Content Creation and Multimedia - Ability to develop digital learning materials (videos, presentations, infographics). </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Strength and stamina to be able to remain in a seated position for up to 90 minutes at a time throughout the workday with a minimum of fatigue or discomfort.</p> <p>Visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer for at least part of each day with a minimum of fatigue or discomfort.</p> <p>Strength and stamina to be able to remain in a standing position for up to 90 minutes at a time</p> <p>throughout the workday with a minimum of fatigue or discomfort.</p> <p>Strength to lift objects that weigh at least 50 pounds and move them more than 50 feet.</p> <p>Environmental Demands:</p> <p>Be able to spend most of the time inside classrooms with some work outside in hot/cold weather.</p> <p>Be able to tolerate noise up to 90 decibels.</p> <p>Be able to work after dark.</p>
