<p>SALARY</p> <p>The minimum salary is $21.168 per hour</p> <p>This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.</p> <p>Pay Grade 515</p> <p>This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month, $0.52c/hour) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour) upon hire.</p> <p>FILING DEADLINE DATE</p> <p>The deadline to apply is Monday, May 4, 2026</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION</p> <p>The purpose of this classification is to operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment and specialized machinery for the application, repair, and maintenance of pavement markings on streets, highways, and public parking areas.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma, GED, or equivalent </li><li>Two (2) years of related experience </li><li>Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, knuckle booms, and snow plows </li><li>Operate and maintain equipment used for painting, striping, and marking, included but not limited to: striping machines, thermoplastic applicators, and other specialized machinery safely and efficiently </li><li>Perform surface preparation including cleaning, patching, and grinding to ensure optimal adhesion and longevity of pavement markings </li><li>Apply pavement markings including lines, symbols, legends, and reflective materials according to federal, state, and local specifications </li><li>Adhere to safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and traffic control procedures </li><li>Performs routine clerical duties such as completing route sheets, notices, service requests and other forms as necessary </li><li>Respond to emergency pavement marking needs such as road repairs or temporary traffic control during incidents </li><li>Performs related work as assigned </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION</p> <p>All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.</p> <ul> <li>Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B with Endorsement N - and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner¿s Certificate in order to qualify and must be maintained as a condition of employment. </li><li>CDL holders are subject to FMCSA query prior to qualification </li><li>Please attach a current copy of your CDL license to this application </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must be accessible to on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies. </li><li>Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies. </li><li>Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner. </li><li>All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. </li></ul> <p>HOW TO APPLY</p> <p>Submit LFUCG electronic application through lexingtonky.gov/jobs and attach/upload applicable documents to verify your education, training, certification/license(s), or DD214 (for military preference with appropriate discharge) by filing deadline date.</p> <p>RESUMES CANNOT BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE APPLICATION, but are highly encouraged to be attached/uploaded to the application.</p> <p>Please note that the section titled "Application Questionnaire" has to be completed every time a new or revised application is submitted.
