<p>Summary Statement</p> <p>Supporting Safety. Strengthening Security.</p> <p>The City of Boise is seeking a Security Program Specialist III to help maintain a secure environment across City facilities. This position plays a key role in protecting employees, visitors, and property by monitoring physical security systems, responding to incidents, and supporting emergency preparedness efforts.</p> <p>Working under general supervision, the Security Program Specialist III manages and resolves escalated security situations, provides technical guidance, and contributes to training and procedures that promote a safe, respectful, and accessible workplace.</p> <p>If you have experience in facility security, emergency response, or safety coordination, and are looking for a position where your skills make a daily difference, we encourage you to apply.</p> <p>This position works up to 19 hours per week, covering evening meetings at City Hall. Schedules are subject to change depending on business needs.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Is capable of performing all duties of a Security Program Specialist I and II, and provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group, as needed. </li><li>Responds to, aids in mitigation and investigates safety issues, escalated security threats and emergencies within city facilities. Supports preparedness and response efforts for protests and public presentations. Participates in the Incident Command structure during significant emergencies. </li><li>Coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and repair of security system infrastructure. Troubleshoots hardware issues and coordinates with appropriate contractors to facilitate repairs. Evaluates the need for and recommends service calls for security equipment and hardware. </li><li>Conducts security system assessments for existing facilities to identify risks and recommend enhancements. Provides training and coaching to city employees and supervises after-hours security team. </li><li>Ensures consistent implementation and adherence to security operations policies, regulations and procedures. Develops and updates standard operating procedures, protocols, quick reference guides and web page content. </li><li>Maintains filing system, lock and key control and the city's lost and found. Coordinates scanning and indexing of security program documents. Monitors calendars for public meetings that may require security services. Monitors program budget and codes security invoices for payment. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma and four years of experience developing and implementing programs in security, emergency management, risk and safety, human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. </li><li>Knowledge of: managing a physical security program; installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electronic security, alarm and public safety systems; principles, practices and techniques of conflict resolution; security, emergency planning and management; scalable, integrated security software and database management systems targeted at commercial and government security; and computer usage including related software. </li><li>Ability to: read and understand schematic diagrams, technical manuals and documentation; carry out multiple projects, issues and assignments simultaneously; quickly recognize and analyze irregular events and experience with crowd control; prepare and present statistical and narrative reports; adjust to change, personalities and shifting priorities at a moment's notice; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and performs all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation. </li><li>Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training</p> <ul> <li>Six years of experience developing and implementing programs in security, emergency management, risk and safety and/or human resources. </li><li>One or more years of supervisory experience. </li><li>Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification. </li></ul> <p>Licensing And Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Valid state-issued driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements</p> <p>Applicants must be able to pass:</p> <ul> <li>City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation </li><li>Driving Record Check </li><li>Criminal Justice Information System background check (CJIS) </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>The physical effort characteristics and working environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Also, the employee is rarely pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. </li></ul> <p>Working Environment</p> <ul> <li>The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. This position will respond in emergency situations with potential, unknown hazards, both human and environmental. </li><li>This position works: Evening meeting hours, on call, and emergency response. </li></ul>
